Excellent to see some good news. Simon has always been well regarded and the move seems to have been a bit of a shambles but if the work is still good I will wait - albeit very impatiently!

I spoke to him today. He builds my engines & gearboxes. If I can't break them, API must be good!!!

API are good !... Especially considering that its Mick and Rob that build the engines and gearboxes !

I've just had to take back my Hawkeye after nearly 3 months of misery always chasing them, hardly a call back, broken promises and now I've had the engine investigated it's worse than when it went in. Compression problems were supposed to be sorted by new rings unfortunately it hasn't and I have to start again.

Took car to API as they were the company that rebuilt the engine 4 years ago according to the history file. The engine was running rough and I felt it needed check over and remap. API said the compression was well down 90 on one cylinder and needed to investigate by removing engine. Seemed fair enough but the job took weeks eventually we were told its wasn't too bad just piston rings and recommended A new ecu with 7 maps however the job drifted on for weeks even took days off to go there the promises were never kept and in the end the car was left with the mapper TDR ? But they never received the correct ecu. 3 times the wrong parts were sent so in the end I took my car back however after new investigations the compression is the same if not worse and there seems to be several oil leaks and missing parts. Nightmare

Hi Guys,
Finally I have my car back and it is great. As they say "for legal reasons" I can't put the whole saga here but if you need Engine or gearbox work I strongly suggest you go direct to RM Performance Ltd Unit 5 Riverside Business Park Banbury OX16 5TU 01295 277 556. They not only do great work but they even answer the phone!

Glad to have helped you out of your 'situation' and get your very nice Spec D back on the road Richard.

See you next month for your final map

Mark has done all my mapping too and has always achieved great results. He has also built my latest 2.35 stroker engine so hes not just a laptop wizard like some so called mappers but has a full understanding of the mechanics too. He is also a very friendly and honest chap to boot so i have no problem recommending him to anybody

I agree with all of that. TDR did a great job on my (finally) rebuilt engine. A very impressive setup.

API are open. Very small operation thus why phone not always answered. If building engine nothing worse ghan breaking off and thus phone delays. Simon very knowledgeable, not too expensive but often tries to please too many people at the same time. Builds good engines but tries to avoid full g/box strips. Lead times can be long as he is very busy so try and be patient. He is not perfect and is trying hard to regain the API reputation after being dropped in the 's. ..t by ex directors. PS. PHONE IS 01926 614333.
