Its just a cheap taiwanese crap unit.. doing what it does best, making lots of lag and frustrations... I am going to throw away mine.. nothing but problems with it.

Lag, Poor wastegate+actuator design... leaking wastegate, and the spoolup is just crap on a EJ20.... in 4th gear it takes all the way to 4000 before it hits full boost...

That is in 4th gear... spoolup in 2nd or 3th gear is even worse... full boost @4800rpm. Topmount cooler, non avcs.. MY98 GC8.
there are turbos that deliver the same power but with 800rpm earlier spool time...

What kind of power ?
Stock Headers ?
I was looking at Kinugawa until i picked up a sc42 beast that was for sale on here
What turbos you say are better than kinugawa and close to the price ?
Not defending them just couldnt find any 'New' turbos that where reasonably priced.

Dont know about the power.. but it is a decent amount faster than a buddy of mine with a vf35@ 320hp i'd guess about 360hp @ 1.45bar
OEM MHI turbos are cheap as well.
stock headers, no leaks.

Went for an sc42 on the basis that the results were there to read.
But really who else makes them ?
Not that many out there you can buy brand new and bolt on ?

I mean when i was looking for a decent TD05 18-20g
I was looking into them before i got my SC42
Couldnt really find anywhere that sold them brand new.
All i could find were ebay ones,
In the end i was gona settle for an older one and get it rebuilt here in the UK as id rather that than a chinese one for obvious reasons.
But i saw a very nice SC on this forum and just saved all the bother, it cost a fair bit more but as with everything you get what u pay for.
Sounds like this guy is having trouble with his fresh out the box which doesn't say great things about them.

UK tuning is treading water at best.
A well trodden path of fitting the same old parts, get the same old results.
Fit rcm headers, don't want to lose the burble (restrict power, but it's a safe option)
Fit fuel pump
Decat etc etc.
Fit decent supporting mods and push the boat out and do some innovation and you may get the results you are looking for.....

None taken,
If you had read ^^^ , I actually went for an Owen Developments tinkered SC42. (Peer Pressure)
However i'm still curious as to what a kinugawa can actually make, seems most threads involving these end this way with no concrete results,
(Guess due to unhappy owners)
If its **** fair enough but without proof nobody knows.
But im sure if it had spooled by 3k and made 430bhp we would have heard by now

I've read threads where they don't make boost, die during mapping or only last 1000 miles. They are cheap for a reason and if they were any good UK tuners would be pushing them but they don't, speaks volumes IMO.
