We cancelled this as we've decided to go 4k. The budget has upped a little, too, so any ideas gratefully received.

P.S. Richer Sounds in Cardiff were fantastic about the whole thing even though we piddled them about.

Get yourself into Costco as they still have the 58" LG for £935. It's a bargain for what the tv is and the offer will end soon and it will rise nearly £200

I have an optoma hd141 and I use a screen that's 8ft across, I have no idea what the diagonal size is and I sit the same distance away from that as I do my tv and I have no problem watching it

I sit just 1.8m away!

It's the same perceived screen 'size' as if you were sitting in the front row of the top section of a multiplex i.e. the width of the screen is just within my peripheral vision!

I assume it's a regular widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio screen?

If so, the diagonal size = 9.18ft

This, the best sub 65" TV in the world, future proof to an extent too.

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-...22368-pdt.html

Best TV for gaming, plays all files via USB, great detail and screen uniformity, processor is powerful so apps and the remote work very smoothly, you can watch 4k content on youtube all day withought getting memory problems. HDR ready which is a massive consideration and the colour ****s on my triluminous Sony.

No brainer.

Thanks, Matt, but I'm on the cusp of moving in to a 200-year-old house. I need to buy blades for a tractor-mower, I need to re-point 3 of the external walls, I need to tile the bathroom, the missus' car is coming to the end of its useful life and that's just some of a long, long, flippin' list. In short, I cannot spank £1.6k on a TV!

Save your money and just spank the missus for evening entertainment.
After a month of that she will let you buy the bigger TV just for some peace and quiet

Its £1440, 10% off all Currys TVS!

You could get the brilliant 48JS8500, at £1200, Techradar.com rate it 6th best TV in the world

http://www.techradar.com/news/televi...-today-1198304

I wouldn't consider any other 4k TV's, not many have HDR, fast gaming response and OLED TV's have horrific motion judder.

I was in Costco yesterday and my tv I bought has now went back to it's original price but they have an LG 50" 4k tv that will be a 2015 for £700 I think. That is on offer as well and will rise say £200 in about 3 weeks after the offer.

No exaggeration, he's just hit 30lbs. (13.6kg)

He's just started to reach the upper end of the medium wild cat weight range. "Big Cats" start at 46lbs in the form of a female Cheetah.

So, he's not a friendly but a hostile cat, then? In that case, he loses a few marks in my book, even when he competes with a female cheetah with his weight etc. Not good to know that he has a temper like a female cheetah as well.

My fat cat would never do that, even if you comb his whiskers with your toothbrush or even Dyson clean him. Never!

He's 7 or so kg now and that's quite big for his common sort; in my book. He's the most interactive and loving cat I've ever met. Not passive but responsive instead. In a good way, though. He scratches us with his big claws in a play. Never with any anger or defence. I don't think he has a concept of the word the 'enemy'. I carry him on my shoulder like a tea towel most times.

Does your Ludo play with you and let you cuddle him etc.? Or does he just sit at one place with all this weight, looking like a cute n' fluffy, Royal teddy?

He likes to sit next to people, my wife could wear him like a scarfe when he was smaller and he still let's her hold and cradle him like a baby.

He likes to play with my 4yo son, he built a den and they both laid in it together for ages. ITV got some good footage of him cuddling Ludo.

Where's that ITV footage? I'd like to see it.

Now back to the TV theme of this thread, does Ludo watch any TV? My Ms. Coco watches it a bit. Rubix the fatty isn't keen, apart from getting alerted by the Meer cats before and during Coronation Street.

Feb/Mar 2016!

Ludo seems to stare at the TV for long periods sometimes. My mum's Maine Coon cat jumps on the TV stand when cats are on youtube!

Decent value, I've bought my 4yo son a 40" Samsung 4k JU6000 for £378 and it's a great TV.

This would certainly tempt me - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/4274526.htm

Curry's do the 60" version for just £949

Personally i wouldn't buy a 4k TV just yet as their isn't enough 4k content around to justify buying one, 90% of the time you'll just be upscaling SD or HD to fit the screen and from what ive seen from the demos i've had the 4K TV's don't do a great job of upscaling SD content.

If that were me i'd buy a 1080p TV as a stop gap until 4k content becomes more readily available and they upscale better, the majority of the time you'll either be watching SD or 1080p HD content anyway so the 4k screen is a waste.

48 inch Samsung JS8500 just £1099 at Currys. Epic TV!!!!!!!!! 21ms gaming, active 3D with cheap glasses, Nanocrystal SUHD colour, original rrp £2100, fast remote/smart features and HDR compatible.

4k blurays are just around the corner, there's plenty of YouTube/netfix 4k programs and 1080 upscales beautifully on a 4k set as there's more colour information in the 4k`s pixels When a 4k demo drops to 1080 due to crap internet I cant tell.
