Are you monitoring AFR’s as well as EGT’s & if so I take it the car doesn't lean out when EGT’s increase?
My engine can get hot because of the fuel being richer then the denseness of the air i.e too much unburnt fuel,as the high heat has a adverse effect at high rpm's, thats why people use charge coolers but I personally think water/meth injection might be the way that I go, its not really a big problem for me though at present...but saying that when it comes to AFR/EGT it could start to be.SJ.

I am not ignoring you & do appreciate your responses & information, however I am struggling to word my response / dissect the information...
When you mention a charge cooler are you referring to additional cooling off intake air temperatures?
If so I am assuming when then engine gets hot (after prolong periods of boost), IAT’s increase & this causes more fuel to be added...
However as this hot air isn’t as dense therefore, the mixture richens & this additional fuel increases the EGT’s.
I was always under the impression raising EGT’s were an indication of the engine leaning out & assumed this was an oldskool AFR monitoring method. Which I now believe is redundant as you could just run a wideband to monitor AFR directly
**I am not 100% sure I understand what (if any) changes happen on the AFR reading when EGT’s increase?**
Now...
If I understand correctly you’re suggesting running water meth injection will cool the IAT’s further, in turn having lower IAT’s after prolonged periods of boost, therefore after prolonged periods of boost the air will be denser so the mixture won’t richen & EGT’s won’t rise
So if your AFR ratio richens after prolonged periods of boost, into relation to the EGT’s increasing then I’ve solved the mystery
how is the cae shifter - enjoying it? big difference?
Been using it for just over a year now and to be completely honest it’s a nice upgrade over a bushings and short shifter set up,and a massive difference compared to the O.E STI shifter, the gear change is super Precise and adds to the drivability of my car...The only negative is the price, but saying that you are paying for proper German build quality.SJ.
Prob the best bet then is to just ignore the the EGT gauge & pay more attention to oil temperature.
Oil temps on my engine seem to be fine, but i am still thinking seriously about adding water injection into the inlet to cool combustion temps under boost and reduce egt that way...I have a few ideas that i am going over in my mind...SJ.

I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a water injection kit for my Impreza,as i have noticed that the EGT temps can start heading north under my top boost map,and i want to rein them in as much as possible...
I think that once it has been set up properly I should definitely notice an all round improvement with Engine temps under high boost.SJ.

Pulse Width Modulation eh makes for great atomisation , Im controlling through my Link g4 , i cant see if you bought the controller or if your controlling it with syvecs
