Who should replace Milliband?
#61
Pleased to know that. He still needs to grow up a bit. Still, asset to the party. If UKIP had one candidate with an ounce of what he has, Farage wouldn't have come back to his throne.

Party is ripe for change, at a major low, therefore the chance exists for the right leader to be given wide ranging support to make changes and make a difference.
The latest candidate is a possibility (M.C.).

Lots of speculation about why Chuka threw in the towel after just four days. A family home bought through a Jersey based trust, his sexuality (not that it should be anyones business), drug taking as a young man etc.
His sexuality or experimenting with drugs are neither here or there as far as I'm concerned.

He had zero chance of becoming PM in my opinion, whatever the polls may or may not have said. He was absolutely not what the Labour party needs right now, and I expect a few told him so either directly or more likely implied.

This country is a long way from electing a Prime Minister that isn't white.

I'll vote for someone with a vision, and integrity. Anyone?................

I can't see which way Labour can go now , unions want more radical left wing thinking whilst "old school" new labour proponents like Mandy proposing something different . Voters don't have a clue what they have to offer
Shambles . Can't see them doing anything for years

It must be just you, at least here, as I haven't heard any other man on this forum informing of their androgynous tidying so openly, even if it's just your eye brows. Good on you! If you put lipstick on and wear feminine clothing to compliment the rest, that is absolutely fine as well. We can call you a 'she' as well from now on, if you prefer.

What matters is who the general public as a whole are receptive to.
And they are no more likely to vote black than they are queer.
With the current situation in Labour please explain to me why they would take the risk? It might make some of them feel better about themselves ("Oooh, aren't we inclusive, hurrah for us") but it will not get them elected.
Why some people have so much trouble coming to terms with this is beyond me.
Go ask your Grandad, he might get it.

Wishful thinking on your part.
Why do you think it is the wives and family get brought out at election time, and good ol' Christian values implied (without too much emphasis on the God-bothering as that puts some voters off) ?
Can you hand on heart say that you genuinely believe the UK public are ready to vote for a PM who is black, brown or queer?
I'm not even sure an unmarried person has a good shout, so the others sure as hell don't.

You're not often right, but you are about this. Unless you're white, heterosexual and probably male you won't get elected PM. That says more about the bigoted population of this sh1thole than it does anything else, but it is nevertheless true!

I know men wear make up for studio interviews on TV but he appears to be wearing it all the time. I have visions of him self applying the mascara every morning before he goes to work, makes me grin, hence why I can't take him seriously when he goes on regular anti Tory rants where he never give any factual workable solution himself. He could well be wearing suspenders under that suit
He had light pink lipstick on yesterday in but I'll let him off as it was in a filming studio and probably applied by the make-up assistants at the studio.

The American argument just highlights the differences between us and them re. colour ( a queer is no more likely to get elected there than here, so will not).
The divisions between rich and poor and white and coloured in America are more extreme than they are here. And as such at the extremes racism is far worse in America than it is here. Votes at the extreme are either fixed or don't happen at all, it's the votes in the middle that count (deadly plague completely changing the racial/liberal demographic notwithstanding).
And in America their attitude to success, the ability to make it from nothing whoever and wherever you came from is far more pro-active and positive than ours. They are ultimately far more accepting of immigrant success than we are, and when enough time has passed the immigrant (or their descendents importantly) is no longer an immigrant but a citizen of the U.S.A., with all the rights that entails.
Back in Blighty I don't see a receptiveness to a PM who doesn't look like and sound like he/she is English (I choose English on purpose). This doesn't particularly bother me either way (no queers for PM though), I'll just go with the flow and if the PM in 25 years is called Winston or Errol or Sanjid I expect I'll just have to swallow it up.
