Qualities Tony Blair had in abundance, look where that got us. I'm not a socialist but if I were I'd see Blair as destroying much of the socialist principles of the party. As Maggie said, her greatest achievement was Tony Blair.
I reckon Chuka would be much the same, he wants power for the sake of it rather than any real principles. He'd pay lip service to social justice by 'minor' things like a 50% tax rate, mansion tax etc but won't have the stomach to do the big things that would actually make a difference ie take on 'big business' etc.
All imho of course.

On the subject of the Labour leadership it's all pretty irrelevant until the party decide who they are as right now they have no real identity in the political spectrum. They also need to radically change how they select a leader. The Unions need to be removed from the equation! Unions have their place and are can still be important in the workplace, but they should not be choosing a political party's leader!

But being media friendly is just get entry into the game, and if you are not in it your are never going to win
labour has to work on the basis that pretty much all the non regulated media - I.e the press activity campaign against the labour leader
I believe (not sure) that one paper ran the infamous bacon sandwich photo either on the day of the poll or the week !!!!
So my ticks are not really ones of policy, but simply the "look and feel" which in this day and ages is equally as important

Very true. Labour's loss could be mainly attributed to the SNPs gain, and it's been over-reliant on the Scottish vote for far too long.
IMO a good direction to take for them is to become the ENP; A slightly left party but with a look towards control catering for English needs and distancing or campaigning for change to current West-Minster politics; That could easily gain them 50 odd seats in England. Of course they'd have to write off the Welsh vote, but again they shouldn't be relying on them either.

Charismatic, very presentable, young, well spoken, good breadth of knowledge re. business, finance and employment. But Ummuna isn't a pain-the-@rse journalist friendly, though. He loses his temper at them. Then again, may be that's what Labour needs. Strong and no-nonsense leadership. Unlike the previous puppy-eyed, vote begging, pathetic one.
I do think that Ummuna will have to expand his knowledge about his own party, and use the sentimental sh7t a bit economically in his interviews. I'm sure he can. He seems to be a guy with a good head on his shoulders.

That's the possible banana skin, although I perceive her as being independently minded so am prepared to excuse that (how she can get in bed with that is somewhat worrying though). Others more important need to feel the same way to make it happen.
