Are you really that stupid? Having an immigration policy makes the party leader a racist who wants to kill immigrants? I doubt you even know what their immigration policy is. Some people are just completely brainwashed by left wing media. I bet the editor of the guardian is proud of puppets like you though.

Am I the only one who remembers the film about the peoples of Africa moving north and landing on the south coast of Europe and all the controversy it caused. It was kind of prophetic really...........I see all the foreign aid we have been sending to Africa has worked - bet no-one has been pocketing the money then eh?..............I am damn sure that if I lived in the conditions a lot of Africans have to live in I would risk my life for a better life.

If I was aware of a large group of strangers approaching my isolated house I'd lock the door before I started wondering what I could do to help them.
Please, furnish me with your suggestions for further discussion.

We have a stout fence around the chicken coops. The admirably resourceful and likeable foxes stay outside. As long as that's the status quo, I have no reason to go around shooting foxes.

I had a vague recollection of it after reading your post, but certainly couldn't remember the title. Some googling later though:

So what do you suggest we do regarding the crisis in the med Martin? Do we just welcome the immigrants and maybe send out ships to collect them and bring them into the Eu to be resettled here? Do you think that would encourage more to make the journey thus escalating the situation, and also encourage the most able and mobile to leave countries rather than staying to help them improve and develop?
We're in a very difficult position here. It's like Europe is like a boat full of people in a sea which is full of drowning people trying to climb aboard. If you dont let people start coming aboard they will drown, but there is a finite number you can let climb into the boat before itself sinks.

UKIP's answer is to cut foreign aid; in other words do even less. This of course will result in even more people trying to escape their pitiful lives and find something better.
So the answer to this issue is to stop thinking of the refugee crisis as the problem, that is merely a symptom. If we really cared, and were really interested in this region then we'd get something substantive done.
It's worth remembering for a second how unbelievably privileged and lucky we are to live in this country.

The refugee crisis is a symptom of decades of poor governance, famine, plague and war, all of which the west has done nothing.

Let's start with Somalia. What would you suggest that isn't going to involve military intervention?
Re privileged, you are absolutely correct, which is why I would fight tooth and nail to keep it the way it is.

We're lucky. Yes, but seeing you acknowledge that, why aren't we all giving every penny you and I have to better their situation?
The uncomfortable truth is you don't want to, because you don't want to be put yourself into poverty, you can't be that self-righteous as you can still afford to use a device capable of internet access. Any reasonable person wouldn't think highly of a government that puts foreign aid in higher priority to the people that elected it - picture it...a party's manifesto states it'll spend its NHS and social care budgets on foreign affairs...a clear vote winner for the masses!
We can't even sort out Famagusta which should be a easily resolvable issue. How the hell do you think we can sort out the majority of North African and Middle East continents?
This is the Superman problem....he cannot save everyone, its a cruel harsh fact. Go ahead, feel bad about it, freely accuse others of not appearing to care enough to make yourself feel better, but it won't ever change anything.

Like what? What is the answer to fix the problem? To make their life so much better they want to stay put in their own country.

Doesn't history show that Europe created the problems in the first place and really Europe should really help resolve them...........throwing money at these countries does not help cos its being pocketed by the leaders and their families so direct action like helping to build an infrastructure...creating jobs....helping with education etc
