Some of us like our old Imprezas regardless of what we can afford 
An E92 M3 is a lovely piece of kit and would be my choice over any Impreza to spend time in, in a traffic jam or on a motorway. I'd opt for an E90 in manual personally, although I know the DCT suits the S65 well.
It's another story though come 5 am on a BST Sunday and 100 miles of the finest B-roads to be devoured before breakfast. It won't be the German keys that I'll be reaching for.

I too have an old Impreza, I go round in circles thinking of something to replace it with but there's not a lot that comes close to my old STI V6
