Scoobynet has potentially saved you a lot more than £500! Although you're pi$$ed now, you'll soon forget when you're eventually in another. The fact that you now know what these clowns are like it would make you nervous every time you drove it thinking that something may go wrong.
Walk away, don't let your heart rule your head.

How the hell did you fall for that?
If you can get your deposit back, great. If not, take it as a wake up call for being so bloody gullible! Of course it was a setup. So it was yours for first refusal......until the 'other buyer' offered £500 more than the asking price?
And you didn't think to walk away at that point?
Sorry for the digs but the whole story is like hearing 'you're being mugged' constantly, until you fell onto the hook and handed over your cash.
Keep us updated. Clearly the car should be sold by close of business tomorrow even if you withdraw your offer. I mean, there's another buyer isn't there?
Our suspisions will be confirm when it is still for sale in a weeks time.
This ****, just got real!

To Op, if they refuse to pay your deposit back just stand outside their premises with placard saying they just ripped your £500 deposit off. This is legal to do and it won't take them long to pay up!! Just need the *****!!!

Interesting read. I had a bad experience with some scum dealer a few years back; the whole thing really does leave a nasty, bitter taste in one's mouth. And you'll never enjoy the car as you'll always associate it with the scumbags.
To OP, if you work for a bank, you probably know more about this than me, but can't you apply for a chargeback within three months if you pay for something using a debit card? As far as I'm aware, the minimum spend is £500 on a credit card, but no minimum if a debit card is used. Either way, you'd be eligible. And if you work for a bank, I assume you paid using your own bank's card!? Should be easier for you to arrange than most!
I have had absolutely no personal dealings with Cheshire Performance, but reputations are everything when buying used cars from dealers. I have read enough on this site to know to avoid them like a fat bird with a cold sore on her lower lip.
For what it's worth, my advice: DO NOT go through with the purchase, and do everything you can to get your deposit back - chargeback, picket line outside their premises...
Ps. Only the most honourable car dealer in the land would refuse an offer of £500 over the asking price solely to remain loyal to a previously-interested punter. Did you glimpse Jeremy Beadle's ghost lurking in the background?
Good luck!

Hope all things go well bud, I'm sure another one will come up a lot cheaper than that.
Bought a car for my mum of a dodgy car dealer in Bolton. Complete conmen, had engine fault they had it back to fix, tried charge my mum 240 for a water pump.

Sitched up for a shi**er , sorry buddy.
I know how it is, I got stung by Scoobybits years ago for a car that should of been scrapped, was railroaded into it , I learned a lot that day, we all have to learn.
The car is overpriced, and for that sort of money I also suggest test driving a JDM STI before committing to a UK model, if you where blown away by the performance of the UK, then you will be wetting your pants once you are in a JDM.
You do have some protection on a debit card, not as much as a credit card unfortunately, heres some information you might want to investigate before contacting the conmen, sorry, dealers.

I'm even tempted to ring them myself after 10am enquiring about the car. Just to see what they say.
Something needs to be done about those little ****s. Sooner the better.

Kind of hope they are reading this. If there's a decent honest person there then it shouldn't be a problem.
Anyway I've just cancelled the insurance that I had in place for it.

Feel for you mate..don't bad as it could happen to the best of us. I 'know the feeling when you've fallen for a car after a test drive and have been eyeballing the photo's on the advert beforehand for ages and have been smitten by it!..easily done when your in the car market with the cash ready to buy.
I can't comment on this actual trader as I've had no experience of them but going by there rep on here it say's it all.
Personally I would suggest holding out for the right car from a private owner and preferably an enthusiast which you will feel much better about owning..things can go wrong with any car once you've bought it but at least if you know the car's been cherished by the owner you've got a chance of getting a decent car.
Wish you the best of luck mate in getting your deposit back..hopefully like everyone's said they will do the right thing.
