Scientists, they don't disprove god so much more religion, but maybe one day.

Steven Fry saying "I think there is no god because children get ill" is just a equal and opposite reaction to someone saying "I know theres a god because I love my children and who can explain love".

You can't disprove a religion. It's a belief, not a fact.

I mean more to do with what the books say, for example, evolution etc, we can now prove that there was no Adam and Eve.

Love is an inherent characteristic/instinct which helps further our species. It can be explained.

Sir David Attenborough has revealed that he receives hate mail from viewers for failing to credit God in his documentaries. In an interview with this week's Radio Times about his latest documentary, on Charles Darwin and natural selection, the broadcaster said: "They tell me to burn in hell and good riddance."
Telling the magazine that he was asked why he did not give "credit" to God, Attenborough added: "They always mean beautiful things like hummingbirds. I always reply by saying that I think of a little child in east Africa with a worm burrowing through his eyeball. The worm cannot live in any other way, except by burrowing through eyeballs. I find that hard to reconcile with the notion of a divine and benevolent creator."

Agape love is hard to reduce to simple procreation.

There isn't anything more than simple procreation though , as far as survival species

They will have inherent instincts/mechanisms in place to propagate their species. Whether any of these instincts would qualify as love I'm not sure.
Slugs have incredibly complex courting and mating rituals. The slime they leave contains huge amounts of information.

I would say that is more akin to morality. Love between a man and woman is a completely different emotion, as is the love for your children.
To me they are states of mind that enable us to lead a content and fulfilling life. It's just an evolutionary mechanism that is ultimately powered by our 'selfish gene'.

Agape is unconditional and selfless and soars above the reproductive automata that Dawkins peddles. I pray that one day you and he will experience this sacrificial love - for if it's realised one has no choice but to fall to one's knees and declare "Abba, Father!"

Looking at the atrocities being carried out "in the name of God" at the moment, it would seem that his followers are evil, capricious, monstrous maniacs also.

Trinitarian Christians believe that Jesus is God incarnate; nobody's carrying out atrocities in the name of Jesus.

There maybe a god, there may not, the problem seems to be people trying to follow old out dated books that were put together by idiots by today's standards.
Then there's modern people who try and show there is no god by disproving these stupid books when in reality all they are showing is the people who put the books together are wrong, not there's no god.

God willing you'll be granted the gift of faith in Jesus Christ. You do however have free will, so you may be seduced by Mohammad or indeed tempted by one of the polytheistic traditions. You must follow your heart. If your heart tells you there is no God, then sincerely live out that belief, far better that than a life of deceit.

Sounds a bit like a self fulfillling prophecy to me.
I want faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
God grants me the gift of faith in Jesus.
Jesus is the Son of God (or God incarnate).
Ergo we all have faith in God.

What a way to build a fan club

It's a romantic notion which chooses to ignore millennia of ingrained instinct developed over countless generations. You'd be surprised how quickly this Agape would disappear during a period of where it's survival of the fittest. Where unless you're selfish, ruthless and have self preservation for yourself and your genes you die.
Besides what's a Swedish group from the last millenium got to do with anything.

Do I detect a decidedly tongue in cheek ending to Brand's video?

If faith in Jesus grants eternal life (John 6:47) and this faith can simply be acquired via human will why wouldn't one become a Christian? If the answer is that one can't be sure that Christ's promise is true, then one hasn't been granted the gift of faith and therefore hasn't received salvation. It's through God's grace that we receive salvation - God elects His adopted children.

In the "survival of the fittest" scenario you describe it would be the Christian who'd be sustained by his faith (God willing). He'd be assured of a better life to come and would endeavour to not give in to his base instincts. If one's trusting in the Lord and is given grace, one will give up their life for Him. What kind of life would one have if it was selfish and ruthless at the core? What would their children become? I'd rather be with the Lord.
