I pm'd Maz on this last night. It's incredibly complex from a legalistic and theological perspective. The formal terminology is supersessionism v. dual covenant theology. It deals with the trinitarian belief that Jesus is God rather than just a moral teacher and as God what does He want for His people (the Jews and the Gentiles). I'm undecided as to which position I hold, there are compelling arguments on both sides and there are mighty works dedicated to the exploration of these arguments.

Earlier you asked me to answer the question from a Christian perspective and I said that it was dependent upon whether one subscribes to supersessionism or dual covenant theology and I confessed that I'd yet to resolve my position. If I reason my way to accepting the former, the Orthodox Jews are wrong, if the latter they're right. If you're asking me (this time) to answer the question from a secular perspective then the theological issues are moot.
