It's not a lot of money so just take a chance, the only thing I have noticed after using a couple of cheap dash cams is that they don't seem to get the registration very visible. So if someone hits you then drives off your sort of screwed as I have found out.

In other word, the perfect product is still a long way off - especially with the market flooded with ones with iffy firmware, fuzzy focus and Engrish instruction and product support!

And call me greedy but after seeing the Aston martin get keyed I think I'd wat a 3 or 4 channel system so I can fit camera pointing out the side windows (cameras mounted to the central interior lamp, which should catch footage out the side windows.)

I have a K1S in my RRS - good piece of kit. Rear cam is hidden by privacy glass and front sits in front of rear view mirror, so is all but invisible to people looking for them. The control unit sits within the glovebox, so out of sight but it comes with a dashboard mount if you wanted to do that. It has a remote button to mark clips to not be overwritten, in the case of an incident you want to keep and with a 64gb SD card, has around 5 hours of capacity before an overwrite. Quality I've found is perfectly acceptable in both day and night (can read plates no problem). I've got mine connected up to the SatNav screen, so I can view in 7 inches as opposed to 2 - I use it then as a rear view camera for reversing and towing stuff. It came with good UK instructions and in MPH. Cost me £180 and took two hours to fit.

@ Puff The Magic Wagon! 180 quid was a good price, only seen the k1s available for <a href="http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_144149479468917&key=da e123d4f896218ad156069621faf8f9&libId=ie7obwxb01000 bdm000DL7ff71mnz&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.scoobynet.co m%2F1018086-in-dash-camera-3.html%23post11732983&v=1&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eba y.co.uk%2Fitm%2F331398006995%3Fclk_rvr_id%3D891431 346830%26rmvSB%3Dtrue&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.scoobyn et.com%2Fnewreply.php%3Fdo%3Dnewreply%26p%3D117310 10&title=In%20dash%20camera%20-%20Page%203%20-%20Subaru%20Enthusiast%20Forum%20-%20ScoobyNet.com&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2 Fitm%2F3313980069...830%26amp%3BrmvSB%3Dtrue&loAsU uid=ie7obx17-fa9ae36f-b253-46ae-8ed0-fb07d13b7228">£220

blackvue's alternative to the k1s front and rear system

DR650GW-2CH

not as discreet in the windows, but bad, think I personally would rather have the k1s for it's central unit mounted micro sd slot, some would argue the k1s is messy cable wise. (not if you do it right at install stage IMO)

Circa £260 - £289

Geographical location in StreetView http://tinyurl.com/136busOOPS

As a witness I made my details available to the Police, to pass on to the parties involved, the two lady drivers as you can see removed themselves from their damaged vehicles.

Uploaded footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPFS...=youtu.be&t=1m
Got a letter yesterday.

Turns out Focus (I think) was uninsured, £600 fine and 6 points. (Court costs £105)

The other party who got done for without due care, has apparently got an Iranian sounding name* so perhaps was the bus driver rather than Sri-Lanken looking lady who had been in the Corsa which was smashed in both ends. £450 fine and 5 points. (Court costs £129)

*According to two of my colleagues...

No hard wiring involved? simply stick to windscreen and away you go?

Do you have any pics that you could show to demonstrate the quality?
