In dash camera

Can someone recommend a good one for me, I had some old **** try and run me off the road two days ago. I wasn't bothered until I noticed there was paint missing from the front wing of my van as I never realised there was contact.

I have checked the video for his reg number and its hard to make out due to the video being of poor quality and my windscreen being dirty with the sun shinning.

I would now like to get a couple of good quality ones as I need one for my van and one for my car.

Don't say gopro as that's not an incident dash cam and I already have one. I need a good 1080p that is 1080p dash cam.

Any good recommendations but no more than £70 each.

cheers

steven

Now that's easy to search on ebay and right in my price bracket, I did actually look at the video on your link but it more appeared to be a complaint like mine than a recommendation?

This is the video from my crappy cam and I'm a little peaved you can't make his reg out. Look at the little car behind the wagon.

It doesn't show it but when my front bumper is level with his rear bumper he puts his indicator on and moves over. I sound my horn as I'm over taking so he will move back but he just moves over and forces me nearly into the barrier. It was either hit him or brake.

I have had this exact same thing happen before and two moths after the incident I get the police calling on my door saying I had been in a hit and run.

I now save any incident on my pc for future proof

The video quality of the Transcend DrivePro 200 and the UI are great, but it sticks out like a sore thumb and the mic is useless

Get an app for your smartphone, you can then have speed and location data as well....

I can't do that as the speakers are broken in my van so I listen to the radio using my phone and a Bluetooth speaker. You can't have the radio on if your recording.

Reg looks like NA07 YSJ to me.

DVLA website confirms this is a Honda. I don't know what the chances are of that being a coincidence.

That sounds like a good idea as I could then claim it back from my tax :D I don't really want a gps based system though as I tend to speed on motorways.

riiidaa 10 January 2015 10:50 PM

you can buy an 0803 without gps bracket as i understand it, or disable the feature perhaps.

I have saved that link as that's a cracking price, my credit card bill runs from the 25th every month so I will buy that after that and I won't get billed for it for two month :D

Here's hoping for incident free journeys in the interim then :thumb:

Dingdongler 11 January 2015 06:33 AM

So do you guys just have one on the dash or do you have one looking out the rear screen as well?

This is exactly what I have been thinking since I read this thread yesterday.

Also, what about if someone dents you sideways? How would you capture that without having the cams on your car windows?

Front dash cams on its own seems like you're more nosey and want to keep an eye on others, rather than wanting to know who's damaged your car. I mean, most criminals are sneaky and they are not going to attack you from the front, are they. Even the oncoming drivers aren't as bad, but may be they are. Anyway, what if someone bashes you from the back? What do you do, then? Even if this camera moves, what if it's looking at the front when the bash has been given on the side? IMO you do need a cam for your dashboard, your back as well as for every window, if you're properly @rsed.

I have to say that this front one is good for the Jag and Merc owners, because their cat and star thingy on the bonnet get broken away and stolen by the chavs on regular basis.

Turbohot 11 January 2015 11:45 AM

Other thing is, say if they only make one cam rather than the multizoom-in-one, or multi cam:one each potential place, then I will stick that only cam on the back, not in the front dashboard. I mean, I can see the front with my own eyes, it's the back I need to worry about because I have no eyes in the back of my head.
