In dash camera

Other thing is, say if they only make one cam rather than the multizoom-in-one, or multi camne each potential place, then I will stick that only cam on the back, not in the front dashboard. I mean, I can see the front with my own eyes, it's the back I need to worry about because I have no eyes in the back of my head.
You don't need one at the back of the car as if your driving correctly and someone hits you it will show that you were driving with proper lane discipline and its usually always the fault of the driver who rear ends you in the insurance eyes as they should of kept a proper safe distance.

One reason for a front facing cam: it is not unknown for some lowlife, when stopped at traffic lights, to reverse into the car behind then claim that car had hit said lowlife. Even if the scumbag had the foresight to disconnect the reversing lights the video will still be good enough.

Just out of curiosity: is the footage taken by these cameras deemed admissible by the insurance companies in support of a claim and in a court of law should fault be disputed?
Litle point in making the outlay if it is not recognised evidence!

In advance, apologies for the lousy segment on Radio 4...
Yesterday evening approx 19:30 BST - My dashcam captured footage of a road traffic incident whereby a Stagecoach 136 bus LX55 BEO crashed in to rear of the Vauxhall Corsa, forcing it into oncoming traffic where it strikes the rear quarter of the Ford Focus.
Geographical location in StreetView http://tinyurl.com/136busOOPS
As a witness I made my details available to the Police, to pass on to the parties involved, the two lady drivers as you can see removed themselves from their damaged vehicles.
Uploaded footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPFS...=youtu.be&t=1m

Yeah it's possible he was trying to beat his colleague and in his keenness to make eye contact was distracted from what the Corsa was up to?
The smashed up Corsa reminds us that road positioning when waiting to turn into another road is important, it might just save you from getting wiped out by a 'bus ******'. It's deffo the Bus driver's fault for striking the Corsa, but the Corsa driver should not be diagonally across the centre of the road - the approach to the manoeuvre she wanted to do was less than ideal... If you look at this photo http://tinyurl.com/136busOOPS to my mind both front and rear of the car should be relatively straight in line with the two sets of islands (road furniture) if she had have been sat there with the car's bottom tucked out of the carriage way she could have MAYBE camped there all evening and not get thumped by passing vehicles. All IMO of course.

It looks like his mate saw it coming as he moved right up to the kerb, so I would bei nclined to agree that if she was using the road correctly then he might have been able to squeeze through!
He looked to be going way too fast for the conditions anyway....!

The k1s is very tempting - its the closest I've seen that resembles something like a "proper" installed system, everything up to this point has been too DIY orientated and looks too Heath Robinson; like trying to combine everything into the camera like a sat-nav, making it too big and obvious for car thieves to nick and using a ***-lighter PSU which can't be chopped off and hard wired as its a 5volt regulated supply (ok ok, I can get a 5v regulator from Maplin and make my own hard wired PSU, but why should I?? ), also the ones I've fitted teh current draw measured has been too high for 24/7 operation (300+mA) which when combined with the vehicle's own current draw when "sleeping" tots up to just under 0.5amps which is far too much as it could flatten a 60Ah battery in 5 days of consecutive non-use and a proper re-charge after 24 hours of standing will require at least an hours of driving everyday!
In other word, the perfect product is still a long way off - especially with the market flooded with ones with iffy firmware, fuzzy focus and Engrish instruction and product support!
And call me greedy but after seeing the Aston martin get keyed I think I'd wat a 3 or 4 channel system so I can fit camera pointing out the side windows (cameras mounted to the central interior lamp, which should catch footage out the side windows.)

Its exactly the reason why I want one. I've been in increasingly more near misses in recent years for my liking so its a matter of time when I will get caught up in something more serious.
Plus being able to catch car parking shunts from those that "feel" their way into parking spaces and the faces of the scum that "take a look" on my driveway at 3:00am; hence why continuous current draw is a important factor.

For driveway guarding you'd be better off with mains powered wifi cctv camera(s)
