Focus RS Vs Classic STI
Quality lol.
Anyone remember that episode of top gear when jezza bought a five grand kraut barge and it developed a fault that cost many thousands to put right.
While that pos was sitting at the side of the road you could probably go out and buy a cheap rally rep for the price to repair the panza wagon and drive past smiling and waving

If nothing else at least the Merc is more comfortable to sit in while waiting for the AA
i own a focus rs mk2 with the cp420 pack on it.ive also owned a standard one.the rs is a great car and once rolling would suprise a few impreza owners to how quick they are.they are quite heavy and have torque restriction in 1st and 2nd so would be well beaten by an impreza off the line.obvioulsy the impreza would out handle the rs but again for its size and the fact its fwd it handles really well.the difference between the standard rs and the cp420 is huge.the 450+ torques helps its lardy **** move quite quickly once rolling.i must admit i miss my sure footed 500+ bhp p1 but i love my rs.when i decide to sell the rs ill be back in a scooby/evo as imho they are pound for pound king

It's valid because he has OWN/OWNED both cars and can compare them both. Its still his opinion just as any other but it's more valid as he's owned both.
ive had both wrx and sti imprezas and in my opinion the sti is far better but this wont stop wrx owners arguing the toss about it.
its just one persons opinion and everyones different.
so...............still doesnt change MY opinion
thats just his opinion which is different to mine, the problem is scabbynet cant accept any opinion if it isnt in favour of an impreza.

Yes you can say that the sti is better but how can u say the rs is better if you haven't owned one? You're entitled to an opinion but it's not factual cz u haven't owned one which makes it less valid than the person who's owned one.
its just my opinion, i prefer the r.s. to an impreza..........so to me it makes it a better car.
its not based on whether some tool in a wrx got to 60 faster or it went round a track 0.5 slower or anything other than the fact i like it!
jesus.........................who said it was factual?

The way your saying it sounds like its a fact end of. But anyway all i needed to say was that a opinion of someone who's owned both is more valid. That doesn't mean your opinion is non valid but it just wouldn't be taken seriously as you have owned a rs. That is all i need to say.
i dont care what anyone else thinks or what they have found on you tube of chavs racing on duel carriageways.
i prefer the rs others may not, thats called difference of opinion
to me its a better car based on what i like about it, others may be obsessed with 0-60 times or things about rust but none of these things concern me as im not buying one anyway.
Thank god I didn't mention the evo.
If there is something I have learnt from this thread Its, take no notice of timed laps from motoring Journalists, manufacturers Ring times or even a test around tsukuba ..........Head over to Youtube for real life street racing videos, that's where the real tests lie

I have a weekend Scoob (see profile pic) and a SEAT Leon TDi BTCC with AMD remap, pushing out over 330 torques. This is soon to be traded for a Cupra/K1 with Revo Stage 2, as I no longer require the mileage from a Diesel.
Even in the TDi 1st and 2nd are a waste of time and much like the Focus RS I expect that the Cupra will be similar.
However, jumping into the Classic Scoob with 330BHP it feels so much more capable and alot more fun to drive, especially in the wet. You can actually nail it alot more through and out of the bends, whereas the SEAT will just flash the amber traction light at every sniff of the throttle. The damn thing even flashes in the dry in 3rd as the torque through the front wheels is like a on/off switch.
Could I justify a Ford RS....perhaps........ But the SEAT Cupra/K1 will return similar performance yet give me 2 more doors for the family to jump in/out, and also save me about 8-10K on the purchase price.
If I were a single man with 20K burning a hole then an RS would be on the list, but as a family man with a weekend Scoob in the garage, it's just never gonna happen.
