Recommend me some films
If you want a horror film (no ghosts) that mentally challenges you try this.....
Watch the unrated version though.

Yeah, the Spanish Version, it comes alive at the end but I've seen quite a few scarier films.
Another classic by the makers of paranormal investigation, again no ghosts but an epic watch.

I'd list the banned The Bunny Game but that is utter dross.

I watched Ghost Magnet last night, crap.
Just watched The Borderlands, good god. No wonder Mark Kermode wanted to leave the theater.
It gets the tension up with cheap shocks and disturbing scenes then hits you with genuine spookiness. I must admit I put my hand over my eyes a few times.

Is this the borderlands film set in the west country or Mexico?

I am not sure if I mentioned "Under The Skin" but it's worth another mention.
Whiplash was pretty good, watched it last night with the misses.

I had to get something out of the cellar after watching it which wasn't easy.

Belly of the beast lol was a fairly good watch with a couple of jumpy moments
Another movie you need a tough head for is "the divide" from french director Xavier Gens who directed the awesome frontiers.
The greatest apocalyptic movie ever made, a movie that pushes boundaries to the limits.
Buy the uncut American bluray version from amazon only a tenner, it's a double dvd/bluray edition so you can watch the dvd on region 1.
Divide [Blu-ray] [2012] [US Import]: Amazon.co.uk: Michael Biehn, Courtney B. Vance, Milo Ventimiglia, Ashton Holmes, Lauren German: DVD & Blu-ray
A film you will not regret watching.

On another note, I've just watched 'Basic'. Had never even heard of it, but I was channel hopping and thought I'd give it a go, not really expecting much, but I quite enjoyed it.
I watched that a while back, and you are right, it does grab your attention, but I really didn't like it.

I own 17 of your 39 although I wouldn't of put borderlands or dogtooth in there.
I would of put martyrs in the top spot( cause I love it)

Would of also put the cannibal of Rotterdam in there.
As I stated earlier in this thread "a Serbian film" was definitely a tough watch, glad I watched it but never again lol

The burning screaming lamb on Borderlands was the most disturbing thing I've ever seen. The two likable leads getting digested in a stomach was tough too. I think it's a tough watch because it plays out more like a drama like Martyrs and Irreversible rather than out and out horror...
Yeah borderlands was a good film, it's amazing what they managed to achieve with a tight budget, british horror is always much better than the American dross.
