Sadly yes, hence you and the rest of the STI fanboys getting irate at my eye-opening game changing findings.
RISE OF THE WRX.
faster - lighter - more efficient - cheaper.
Pit a 350/350 JDM WRX against a 400/400 Spec C at Santa Pod and let's see who is clueless.

It's the STI's Achilles heal, sure the box handles big power but an STI would need big big power to leave a well specced WRX anyway and at those levels the gearing will be far too short for the strip and public roads.
The far heavier box also robs lower powered STI's of power through significantly higher transmission losses.
Don't even need to mention fuel efficiency.
TBH when you consider the advantages the Newage have over classics everything points to the Newage JDM WRX being the real champ of Subaru real-world ownership.
I would pay over the odds for a WRX V-Limited or maybe even install a 5 speed on a spec c to make it 20% faster and up to 30% more fuel efficient.

Not bad man, at late 12's it gets massively harder to up time on the STI though as increased power = increased spin.
For example this STI ran 12.7 with 315/320 but now he has 428/442 he's only managing 12.4.
Just 0.2 secs quicker than my 333/307 WRX
Do all you STI owners get it yet?
Your car is massively slower than the WRX. WRX is a Thoroughbred v a strong pit-pony.

but a 12.8 at 260 bhp sti vs your 330 bhp wrx that only managed a 12.6 id say the wrx is massively slower at the same power.
you have managed to beat my time by 0.2 with an extra 70 bhp
oh and i had a passenger too

FAIL.
Find me a 12.5 Newage STI with less power than mine.

Envious of what exactly?
That it seems to turn certain people in *********?
No thanks, you carry on dear boy. Go and play with your toy which is far superior than the next kids.
I'll continue living my life.
(Besides, everyone knows that the best sti was the classic V3/V4. - Anything else is a downgrade!)

I actually couldn't care less what he thinks it just makes me laugh the amount of time he must devote to trawling you tube and the net to try and prove his strange theories.

We all know the 2001-2007 Newage WRX beats the STI, even with 20% less power.
So how do later models fair?
2009:
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take-road-test
2009 265bhp WRX 0-60 = 4.7secs 1/4 13.5
2009 305bhp STI 0-60 = 5.0secs 1/4 13.6
...and now in 2015?
http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...ru-wrx-vs-sti/
What the graph shows is that the WRX can get to full boost in about 6.75 seconds, while the STI takes about 9.5 seconds. It's a big difference.
At the beginning of the test, both engines are producing about 130 lb-ft after one second of throttle.
At the 2-second mark, the STI is up to 135; the WRX is already at 165 lb-ft.
At the 3-second mark, the STI is only at 140 lb-ft. The WRX is at a whopping 180 lb-ft!
At the 4-second mark, when the STI has managed to get to 145, the WRX is nearing 190.
At the 5-second mark, the STI is just pushing past 150 lb-ft; the WRX is nearing 200.
And when the WRX is making full torque (210 lb-ft in this case), the STI is only at 165.
Bottom line: Unless you're planning to enter time attack, choose the WRX every time folks!

You do know I just argue with matt as the lengths and efforts he goes to amuses me and it just passes the time at work.

In the rolling start?
Interesting that they took the STI wing off for the tests and also used the automatic WRX which is half a second slower than the manual WRX.
Subaru dealers aren't dumb when lending cars out for reviews/tests lol.
Subaru actually claim the Manual WRX does 0-60 in 5.5 lol.

The WRX usually pips it to 60 and the STI the 1/4. The 2009 for example was quicker on the 1/4 despite having 40bhp less.
Both great cars but very very different.
For the track I'd want a 400bhp STI and for the strip or road I'd want a 350bhp WRX.

My preference for the Newages are pretty subjective.
