My old Version 3 Type R had the Nardi steering wheel. That steering wheel looks like the ones you get in the early pre facelift non turbo's???

Strange!! Normally Id be a bit wary of a steering wheel change(air bags deployed etc) and then replaced with a cheaper steering wheel, but the Nardi steering wheels on the V3 STi's didnt have a air bag, but there has to be a reason why its been changed to a cheaper/uglier alternative!!

Id check that V3 type R from Newera Imports carefully, as its top dollar for a V3 Type R, and the fact its been for sale for quite a while too!!!

Ill have to do some digging about the steering wheel but as far as newera go they have a good rep and have been around for a long long time. that and a 12 month warranty is extremely good.

WHEN they finally call me ill ask a few questions.

Problem is is that its almost a 9 hour round trip to go and see it so if i go its to buy.

Thanks for your input.

[QUOTE=WRXrowdy;11558464]There was a thread on here with a link to that car.
Apparently someone went to view it, said it looked like it had a repair on the rear quarter panel, so they were put off. I think the poster of that thread was after a mint one, so don't know how bad it was.

That was me, ive viewed it and has a ripple along the rear quarter, also has dent in the bonnet and a couple of car park dings.

The engine is standard, was rebuilt but its still standard internals.

I was actually gona go back and look last weekend but he said that unless i was coming with the cash in my pocket to buy then not to bother so ill do just that and not bother.

The steering wheel on the Newera car is the correct one for that car

I've also answered your post on the Type-RA.com thread

Thanks Dean,

What are your thoughts on the newera one?

I spoke to miguel last night who was very helpful - the car isnt registered yet but can be for the end of November - very tempted as its the best looking condition one Ive seen for a while and I prefer the look of the older models.

Thanks.

DAvid.

That is a steering wheel from a UK car, hence looks a like a bus steering wheel. Also the car has a facelift front bumper £7k for a V3 I would want a standard factory car with no changes!

Like mine.

It looks very out of place, but dean above says it's the right one for that car.

Is it weird that the chassis code of the one in newera is GC8D2DD which is an WRX TYPE R STi VERSION - the correct chassis code for a WRX STi VERSION III is GC8D4ED?

I have an MY97 Type R with the std Nardi wheel.

The car on the Newera site has the correct wheel on it. It shouldn't have the Nardi one.

The wheel on it is the same one I had on my old MY97 WRX & my old MY97 UK 2000

Was the Nardi wheel an optional extra? As it has the sti emblem and the red stitching

The steering wheels were optional, with the vast majority of the cars having the Nardi one.

We have a database on type-ra.com with all the GC8s produced & so can verify all the info.

I have paid for all the jap brochures, spec sheets & portions of the parts catalogues professionally translated so again, can verify pretty much all the data.

Glad to help

If you look here:

http://www.type-ra.com/my97-impreza-wrx-brochure/

The second to bottom right pic shows the steering wheel as an option on the MY97 cars.

Here is the info for the MY97 Type R:
