The black leather seats in my WRX SL were in amazing condition considering the age but a wipe over with the 'matched' Gliptone dye and they look brand spanking new now, and it's a doddle to use.
Gliptone is the way to go for a colour change as well.
Good luck with the project.

I would add all the belts & full cambelt kit, gearbox, diff oil and coolant, brake and power steering fluid to that too, fuel and air filters, after 7yrs standing I would change everything.
Also tell hubby he needs to pre fill the oil filter and disconnect the crank sensor under the alternator, turn it over 4 x 15 seconds to build oil pressure before re-connecting the crank sensor and then and only then fire it up, other wise you might be needing a new engine after a few hundred miles, also only use top quality fully synthetic oil, and shell V power or tesco momentum super unleaded fuel. and don't be revving the **** off it while it's cold.

I'd be inclined to Change the oil and filter. Remove the spark plugs and before you fit the new ones, Turn the engine over by hand with a spanner. It'll help to lubricate the bearings nice and slowly and you can check how it 'feels' before you fire it up.
As Ditchy said get all the belts changed.

But also the cam belt bit loose so could be a tensioner loose. I will get this girl up and running proper if kills me .
