id rather have one like in this pic of the jun scooby ie at the front of the dash, dont care about drilling wire holes under it i dont intend to remove it again.

Where can i get one of those universal ones mentioned above? Think itll look 100x better at the front like this 1 in the pic

nah but u dont need to gaffer tape it geeza if u get a decent pod and bolt/glue it down from inside it should look factory, theyve bodged that 1 on as that car was built just to do 200 mph. Dont mind cutting into my dash 2 run the wires just wud rather it was at the front near the heater vents so its easily visable.

right-o Mr D .. what we gona do about this here pod ?

had a few thoughts about the making - like it mite be impossible to make the back part of it that hooks over the back part of the dash ! so might thave to be 2 part !
how about a seperate front to mount the dials on that slides UP into the pod. could a bigger 'peak' could be put on that way?

as my defi's are 'just lying around' I think new-year = new pod !
I know you've put a lot of effort into making the current block nice and smooth and all. but lets get it made !! or have a go and make it ourselves!

what'd yah think?

Red face

Steve,
Trying to find time to progress it at the moment (MOT,Insurance time! lus I need new tyres)

I have been thinking about it quite a bit lately

I think it's almost there!!! I'll drop into the manufacturer next week and get his opinion on the pattern I've made so far.

Question

Any news yet as I've got some gauges coming and would really like to dump the A pillar mount I've had to use.

If you need any help with the design or styling of it let me know. im a product designer and i'll give you some help.

when installing the pod will it be running parallel with the face of the dash and windsreen. if you you could think about angling the face of the pod towards the driver.

keep up the good work

Ray_li,
Angling the face brings problems with the clearance inside the pod as the gauges would have to sit at an angle too. I did think about it

Your comments on the pix below would be appritiated guys!!!

When PCB finishes the SECS for he early cars, it will fit too
Card is 170 x46mm

So who's interested?

well me obviously !

dont forget - AndrewC's ScoobyMonitor will fit also. think it will fit in the ash-tray too. Phase II of the Monitor will hopefully have a nice graphic display too (when either Andrew or myself ever get round to it! )

JonGould,
I haven't had it moulded yet, this is just the pattern.
I will get some photos of it on the dash later today.

It fits on the centre of the dash above the vents (about 5" back)
The shape on the rear fits over the dash shelf under the window and just covers the front of the panel surrounding the window vent (without obstructing it) so you can pass the wires for the gauges down under the dash unseen

Very interested.... some pics on the car would be great. Lots of angles too, from outside the car, in the drivers seat passenger seat etc. would be good.

Very impressed .

Tony.

P.s what sort of price do you think?

I saw this at the Surrey rolling road day, Dyney placed it in the car for me and it looks better than the current 3 guage pods for the new age imho.

Obviously I'll have one Dyney

Getting a pic from outside is proving difficult because of the glare and reflection from the windscreen Though I shall persist

Thanks

Price depends on the cost of moulding, Would hope to keep it to around £60

Time scale, well I'm just smoothing the surface, then I shall go and speak to the company that's going to mould it for me.
I'am pushing ahead with it now as there are other projects stacking up
Probably wont be done within the month but I hope not long after!!!

Yep, looks great, bin following the post and would definitely have one of those, it'll give me an excuse to spend some more credit card money as have no dials yet either. Keep up the good work

Looking good .

What are you doing with regards to surface finish? Would it not be better to have it 'grained' like the top of the dash rather than smooth? Maybe it would look more like factory finish like that rather than an aftermarket add on. Just a suggestion. Definately want one tho..... just need three nice 60mm Defis to go in there .

Well done!

Tony.

Tony,
I considered the grained finish and it can be done, but I thought it would be easier the make it smooth.
Trying to cover it in the leatheret(sp) stuff I've got would have been a nightmare

Martin,
It is designed to take 60mm Defi's though I have allowed enough room in the pod for deeper gauges
Obviously 52mm gauges would fit and leave room for Knock/Lambda link LED's if you wanted to fit them

Iain.
