In the name of balance and reason could you let us know what this claim actually means? Also, how well do you think that the UKs accounts would stand up to similar scrutiny?

I think you'll find the truth is far less exciting than the Daily Mail would like you to believe.

This is your standard defence on anything like this. You compare the 'crime' to another country or organisation that are as bad or worse and therefore declare it to be somehow acceptable

At the end of the day the auditors have raised major concerns over the EU budget for the last 20 years as they have found significant errors in the payments given out to the tune of 3 to 9%. OK it hasn't been rejected as such, but it has consistently been found wanting with no improvement from one year to the next despite their reports making recommendations on how to cure at least part of this problem. And 3 - 9% is a huge sum of money btw!

I believe it means in my terms at least, that you give money to somebody but they can't account for where it has been spent.

At work, I can't claim expenses without a receipt, the same system should be in place for the EU and UK.

Don't the National Audit Office check and sign off the UK accounts?

Wasn't the EU set up firstly in hope of creating a federal block of countries big enough to counter the emerging economic states as whole in the far east. As well as America and other continents . And secondly so that the poorer eu member states could feed off the richer ones..:!

I thought it was to ease the means of trading with one another. To enable business within member states more smoothly and efficiently. Not to create a monolithic monster leeching off member countries and unbeholden to any scrutiny or accountability.

Absolutely right, my parents didn't vote for this political experiment when they sanctioned the Common Market!
