They won't but seen as Apple sold more iPads globally than any other vendor and that includes HP and IBM and their other hardware sales ie laptops desktops pads etc... Apples sold I think 70mill units nearest was HP at 56mill.
So having that many out and about just make business sence to support it.
Cater for the masses and that's just what apples achieved I'm afraid....
Anyway roll on Thursday new iPad arrivs cos this iPad 2 is bab now lol... But hey it's 4 years old and still going....
If you watch the keynote they release the global sales numbers, very impressive ****...

No, you have it wrong, it's not stores, it is Apple that will do anything to take your money! If you don't have your cash or card, which universally accepted in all retail stores including the Apple Store, you are **** out of luck!

Now ask yourself, how many iPads have NFC? None is the answer. There is little incentive for retailers to shoulder the cost of upgrades to have Apple Pay in your store when proportionately, very few have Apple Pay capable devices and who are very much already likely to carry cash and cards already where the majority of all their payments come from.
Cost of upgrade for retailers over expected NFC upgrades would be nothing, zero zilch.
"The publication reiterates rumors circulating prior to Apple Pay's debut on Tuesday, saying banks are offering Apple transaction fees lower than what is normally charged for credit card processing. These rates are not only lower than so-called "card not present" fees assigned to touch-less systems, but also traditional "card present" fees.
Banks are supposedly hoping to make up the difference by adding transaction volume driven by Apple Pay adoption. For example, customers may move from paying with cash or check to Apple's system.
In addition, The Times says credit card networks will not assume any additional cost in partnering with Apple, though analysts speculate Apple Pay may drive down interest rates. A large portion of credit card network fees go toward preventing fraud, but those expenses may drop once Apple Pay and Touch ID roll out, the report says."

So who will foot the bill for the upgrade to NFC payment terminals for stores that don't have NFC terminals?

Give us a list of stores that don't accept Visa and/or Mastercard and I will give you a list of major retailers that won't be using Apple Pay.

Tell you what how about you stop commenting and we make a bet? $1,000,000 of payments in it's first year. You're certain it will be a flop and I'm certain it will be a success, I'll even raise that to $2,000,000.

ps. I don't accept Apple Pay payment! Cash or bank transfer only.

I never said it would be flop, I just don't think it will ever replace cash or credit/debit cards payments. How about we bet on Apple Pay to become "the most used payment system in the world" since you are certain this is likely to happen.
ps. I don't accept Apple Pay payment!

Not flim flam, since I never said it would flop. However you said it would be the most used payment in the world, put your money where your mouth is or shut up.
