I'm hoping it will have the feel of the early 70's pastorale albums at time before Floyd were negatively influenced by Disco and Punk.

I've listened to it a couple of times now, I'd say it's like a soundtrack to a film in that all the songs are quite short and different moods/themes.
Very atmospheric stuff

Good to hear. I'd hoped it to be more atmospheric than the political rant a lot of Waters fans wanted it to be.

TBH I think Echoes is one of Floyd greatest moments and it is purely atmosphere and jamming, with lyrics taking a back seat.

Right I've listened to it, on initial listen it plays a bit like they've tried to use bits and pieces to make a vocally limited Tubular Bells type album but it doesn't really work, maybe they should have revisited a few melodies during the course of the album to tie it all together? I like a good instrumentally based track like I previously mentioned but I thought there would be vocal harmonies in abundance to make up for lack of vocals but they were scant.

I don't think it's as good as Peter Gabriel's similar 'Passion' soundtrack.

Had a back to back listen last night through my Technics midi system in the garage over a few beers on my comfy sofa

Not disapointed, although I knew it beforehand I would have preferred some more vocals from Mr Gilmour as well as the harmonies RS Matt mentioned, that said Louder Than Words is a beautiful staple PF track and a lovely way to call it a day.

Looking forward to the wife and kids disapearing for a day so I can give it a proper blast through my main system.

As an aside we have two baby tortoises in the room where my system is set up, will I deafen them if I turn it up to 11 ? I bet that question has never appeared on SN before

I need to get this album. The wife and kids are out Saturday and I'm tasked with hiding the Xbox and Virgin box away in a cupboard. Normally for decorating I listen to the wall.

TBH guys I usually listen to the rarer Pink Floyd stuff, things like Cymbaline live with the 2 very bluesy guitar solos or Atom Heart Mother with Dave and Rick doing the choir vocals! I love good quality live PF bootlegs from circa 1970-74, how Careful with that axe evolved live is nothing short of remarkable.

Louder Than Words is a good song Funkii, I love the emotional vocal harmonies accompanying the closing searing solo.

Wow, Susan Boyle banging out Wish you were here tonight on Children in need. Can't remember Floyd's version sending shivers down my spine!

Quality rendition!

I would have preferred if she did the "scat" during the solo whilst playing the acoustic guitar.

I said to the wife at the end that it's a shame she didn't do the scat.

Shame she didn't duet it with Sir Dave.

i was disappointed with the album if im being honest. it was a good idea to do something to mark ricks passing but it needed more effort. only 1 track with lyrics (by daves partner) and releasing rejected tracks and out takes from division bell. its good to hear the last stuff rick played but i remember dave gilmour saying in an interview that he berated roger waters for using outakes from the wall to make the final cut saying if they werent good enough for the wall why were they good enough for final cut. i guess its true what gilmour has always said that they are the sum of their parts and 3 of them are missing now. i,ll have it in my collection as its their last album by the sounds of things.

I agree, far too instrumental. Some of the tracks sound from the cutting room floor, there's definitely hints of other songs (track 2 is very crazy diamond) and there's a track that's also similar to us and them.
20 odd tracks before you hear any lyrics is jut too much. Although I was pleasantly surprised near the end with the rock type track that has the riff that sounds almost white stripes.

They are from the cutting room floor. these are ideas left over from the initial Division Bell sessions that they've gone back to and developed just so we the public can hear Rick Wright's last efforts.

Don't look at it as a 'new' album

TBH when you really know Floyd you realise every song is patched up from previous sessions from years/albums back or is lot of bits pieced together from a jamming session. Us and Them for example came from a piano piece written in 1969 for the Zabriskie Point soundtrack. Dogs was doing the rounds as You've gotta be crazy several years before Animals was completed, it wasn't even good enough for Wish you were here! Floyd once scrapped an album called The Man and The Journey and nearly every part of it ended up on subsequent albums or b-sides.

The Comfortably Numb solo was never played throughout in it's conception, it was small sections of guitar pieced together in production.

It's always been the Floyd way but unfortunately so has point scoring and modesty.

Ironically I think the best song on the new album wasn't good enough for Div Bell or Endless River - It's TBS14 from the bonus tracks.

I didn't expect it to be similar sounding riffs and Rhythms from familiar tracks, more like stuff we'd never heard and were yet to be produced as they were dropped for one reason or another.
It's a good sounding album but it could have been far better if lyrics were added.

I have been listening to the album since it arrived and it as grown to like it. I having been listening to Meddle and Animals recently and realised the changes in the whole production values and edge that they have compared to Endless River. I did not like Black Sabbath 13 but now it's one of my favourites.

Yes, it's less wordy than some of the old stuff but accept it for what it is, a great peace of music by real musicians.

My favourite is a vocalistin Rachel Fury in fact all 3 of them were excellent at
Versailles on the DSOT tour. Now I come to think if it that's how long I have been away from the UK too.

https://www.facebook.com/pinkfloyd/p...type=1&theater

"The Endless River is Number One in the album charts in: UK, Germany, France, Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, New Zealand , Croatia and Slovenia.

Other charts include: Italy - 2, USA – 3, Australia – 3, Finland – 4, Spain – 6, with many more to come.

Meanwhile, although there are no official charts in Romania, The Endless River is the best-selling album in the country."

Pretty good for an album that wasn't highly promoted or received plenty of radio air time in advance. Pink Floyd - the ultimate word of mouth band!

No, not that I am aware of, although chances are I might have done but not realised it.
Harry Enfields old man used to cycle past my house a lot though lol.

Not into the floyd as much as some of you, only posess the wall, the division bell, pulse (on cassette lol) and comfortably numb off the delicate sound of thunder album but did wonder if he could hear it blasting out whenever I played them full whack.

Many years ago my wife and I used to baby sit for a couple, apparently the guy was at some point a session guitarist for them, but I don't know how true that was.

My dad (an ex session bassist) used to live next door to Snowy White who did some stuff with PF.
By the wasn't the guy mentioned above!

I like them but don't have the near religious obsession that some have.

Dad also taught Phil Lynott to play guitar; he cheekily asked my Mum out!
