Exactly why I detest them, I went to upgrade someones iMac today, didn't have any keys in funny places, in fact the keyboard was exactly the same as the one I'm used to and it works great. You carry on doing things 'your' way. You probably have a square steering wheel on your car... because it's better.

Unless I can see real benefits in an upgrade I simply don't bother

Upgrades are usually for the benefit the software developers not the consumer

The sensible bet is to wait for 8.02 or so, let all the fanboys deal with the issues and upgrade once it's all basically working.

Sure, but I have a fundamental problem with simply adding code to fix security problems

The irony is that the more code you add, the more insecure and buggy your software becomes

It is a simple fact of software development

That's one of the dumbest statements I've read on this thread. Don't fix the holes people could be using because you might add another they don't know about yet.

The world jogged along quite happily for a long time, before computers and software developers existed

So are you saying iOS is insecure, thought you said risks were so miniscule that you've never heard of iOS being breached.

There's no such thing as secure, we do our best and that means updating.

And you made up what you thought you heard me say.

Crack on,

As has been suggested, this update will have an update to fix the update and that will inevitably presents an ever bigger attack surface

That will need plugging with ever more updates

software companies love it - pushing all this **** onto users devices

I get the feeling your'e being serious. Was it some fandroid trying to justify not getting updates selling you this tripe? Or did you just make it up?

Nope you did say that a while a go in one of your many informative posts on on how ios was brilliant compared to other OS's. Hard to believe isn't it now, but we never believed you then and neither do we now.

Lol, I made no mention of any "make" of software

Just the simple indisputable fact that simply adding more code to software makes it less secure and buggier

But like I said - crack on and chase the dream

No Jon, I did not. I said very early and very loudly that Android was a security nightmare only matched by Windows, and I was right.

What if the only changes were deletions?
