Watch aside, what were the new features of the iphone (apart form the screen size)?
My boss has one of those pebble watches for his iphone and loves it, can't get away with it myself. Any advantages over the apple watch to the pebble one?

watch is something smart, the phone though sorry to say nothing special about that.
Jack, what's your thoughts on the larger screen as last year you were saying android phones at that time were too big and the current(last) iphone screen was perfect, yet now they have gone bigger and with the 6.5 they have gone away from Steve Jobs ideal?

So, rather than the clearly audible "silent vibrating" (even worse when it's on the table), you'll just start fiddling with your watch, and *THEN* pulling out the phone to actually read the message/mail and/or reply. I can foresee the frowning extended to watch fiddling very quickly indeed.
I think it will take people a good while to adjust to Google Glass, but I would love to try it and see what it can do and is really like. Although I do feel it, like several of Google's products, is a bit too intrusive.

Okay I need to replace my ip5 - what does the 6 (I'd have the smaller one) actually offer over it?
Bigger screen - no good to me as I like phones to fit in a pocket.
Faster by 25% - errmm, wow…
Longer battery life - but how long after a year of having it?
Will it pack up like my iP5 has (camera is now turd, Aux port doesn't work, drops calls, doesn't ring when in reception, act).
And the watch - I've just had my Garmin 910xt stolen; is the health stuff good enough to replace it (it did swimming, running, cycling)? Not worried about apps on my wrist.
I will buy one if it's worth it but I'm looking t £630ish for just the phone which is a lot of cash.

Short version is that it's not *just* a watch. It's a combination of things, a watch, a fitness device (think fitbit), it's a notification tool, it's a payment device (wave it in front of a contact-less terminal to pay for things), and it's extensible and customizable, both with what comes on it, and with whatever developers can think to add to it (well, kind of, you don't install apps on it per-se, it seems to be based on the new iOS 8 "app extensions" system)
And you have to charge it everyday it seems
Or have I missed something

how exactly does the watch payment thing work? Does your phone bill get charged or is your watch linked to you bank account? Do you still need to enter a PIN for the transaction to work?

Apparently you can let someone know what you're feeling about them by drawing a picture of them on the phone
It's all a bit soppy isn't it?
I'm sure they'll shift them by the millions
- you have to have your iphone. , in your pocket, for anything at all useful. !!!

Just read this on a tech blog
"First, the Watch isn't waterproof -- just water-resistant. Exact ratings are still unknown, but these watches clearly aren't something you want to be wearing when pushed into a pool or jumping into the ocean; they should withstand splashing, snow and other minimal exposure to this particular element, but since the mic and speakers aren't protected, do so at your own risk."
Not a deal breaker for me and could change before launch.

Tbh no idea, and i think thats the problem with apple. New apple product gets mega hyped, terms like 'game changer' keep getting branded around, yet when they get released they don't live up to it.
As said im pretty anti apple, but if they came out with something that did bring in something revolutionary i'd give them their due. But over hyping something thast a bit better polished than the competition but extensivley the same just doesn't live up to that hype.

I will likely now go back to Apple as at least they now have a screen that I consider to be a decent size, whether it will be a 6 or 6 Plus I don't know, I think I would have to see both but I think the 6 Plus is just too big for me unless I want to look like Dom Joly.

Who is to say it's not being waterproofed right now? Apple kept very, very quiet about this, and they also tend not to comment on things until they are ready, so if they were working on waterproofing, they wouldn't mention it until they are 100% sure it would work.
It isn't easy, I'll give you that, we just waterproofed our latest device, and it has to be done right, no just squirting silicone in there.

As far as ipad, sales aren't growing rapidly, after the intial release increase they are worse Q on Q.
So the iphone is just a revision, and the watch, not sure what to make of it. Comparisons with existing watches arn't very flattering.
All in all apple seem to be struggling to make anything ground breaking

rather different situation, when the iphone came out it was the first of the current style of all phones, i would say that was indeed the fabled 'game changer'. since then the iphone hasn't been anything that special compared to the competition.

Will probably get a standard 6. My 5 still works fine in fact I would say its not slowed at all since new. All the marketing bollocks aside what do the latest droid do that the average user will make use of? All I ever hear is ooh I can customise my menu's, I have 3d app icons etc. For me the phone synchs with my ipad and does what I need it to and is well built with good aftersales support.
Nothing will be game changing until we move to the next device type like the move from standard mobiles to smart phones. Everything in between is just tweaks. Whether its watches I am not convinced. Many don't like wearing watches, others wear several depending on the occasion. Has anyone seen someone wearing the samsung watch as I haven't?
