That's sad news, Caldwell is an awesome track, you need good tyres (keeping tabs on pressure as they expand very quickly), good brakes and of course driver skill like dicky.

When you've got 30 odd years of experience hooning about on bikes and in cars you'll find that you learn a thing or two along the way, especially when your driving around a 1000 miles a week for about 20yrs predominantly on country roads through Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire in company cars with free fuel, which is why I had bikes for the weekend, dirt bikes in winter, road and track bikes in the summer, I even had a boat for a while.

He was a professional rider too, think he was racing in the 600cc steel frame championship which he was 1st or 2nd overall. Shame really as he was a nice lad too, so was a bit of shock when my brother said he had a nasty accident at Caldwell Park and later died in hospital.

I drive for my work everyday and have fun when I can on weekends, does than mean I'm a better driver than you? As you're getting old now so your eyes and reactions slow down with age

That is so sad and hence one of the reasons I will never touch a bike, in a car at least you have some chance of surviving.

That's very observant of you busta.

P.S XO isn't the best, it's just the start of the good stuff.

Sorry to get in the way of the fun but why is 17s better than 18s for track?

Does it have something to do with the side wall of the tyre having less give.

I think you'll find Remi Martin XO Grand champagne cognac is the best bang for buck in the sub £200 a bottle price range, beyond that it's not really worth the extra dollar and to be fair the average joe may as well save the money and just go for Remi martin vsop if you actually want to drink it and not just leave it in the cupboard.

Cognac is soooooo 80's I'm more into my Malts these days much more interesting and better bang for buck too.

Less give? 18 will be 40 and 17 will be 45 so more flex really (but folk do occasionally put 40 on 17s).
Don't know about the proper statistics, but ime the 17 are more controllable, less twitchy, lighter compared to 18s so make it a better drive for track and road.

Unless your going to start chopping the bodywork about and change the off set as well as spend a couple of grand on the whiteline and beat rush catalogues so that you can run a larger profile than 40 they are to be avoided, tramline like a **** and give very little warning as to when the back end is going to let go, which is easily done on a Type R anyway, as well as ruin the ride and stretch the **** out of the tyres.

Way more rims will clear AP 4 pots even blob WRX rims clear my cp6600 and they are plenty man enough for 500+ bhp classic.

TBH I don't even like 18's on a newage for a road car I've had the wheels in those pics on my Blob for 3yrs and just changed to STI 17's and although it's a tad sloppier in the corners it soaks up the bumps much better, I'll just have to fit a 22 or 24mm rear roll bar on the back to cure the extra slop on the back end, but i'm already used to that and it doesn't really bother me most of the time.

Don't like Hennessy, it's the Teachers of the Cognac market, a bit sharp as it goes down, Remi is like silk.

I didn't like Malt either and I still know next to bugger all about it, but the Husband of my mrs best mate is Scottish and tips me the wink on what to buy for reasonable money, I love going to their place he always has about 50 bottles of the stuff and we gradually work our way through them over the course of a weekend.

Some very very interesting flavours and very distinctive too, as we talk about them, well more him telling me, you can really pick the different notes out, after about 10 though it could be his p1ss for all I know as i'd agree with anything by then.

Then you clearly haven't tried Hennessy paradise and just tasted a regular Hennessy (I don't like the cheaper Hennessy either), they don't have a £500 price tag if it's sharp, it's the smoothest you can get. hine xo is another good one.

Tbh if your into your budget drinks then I'm afraid you know bugger all about the cognac range.
I would love to be able to afford a 2.5k cognac ad it would be worth it IMO.

Like I said it's sooooo 80's because that's when I was doing it, never got up to the £2.5k bottles but did have the odd drop of the £4/500 stuff and to be fair having tasted quite a few, like I said your as well saving the cash and going for a Remi XO at around £120 I believe these days.

It's the same with fine wine and cigars £100/ 200 bottles of wine aren't that much better than a £30/50 bottle and a decent £10/15 cigar is plenty good enough, It's all about knowing what to buy, not just looking at the price tag and fooling your mind into believing it's better because it costs a few hundred quid more.

Hine is nice though.

I HAVE tasted and tried/compared different cognacs, I paid for a cognac drink tasting fest with a mate a while back and the price tag DOES make a difference (not saying it's worth the hike).

Vsop is for folk who think they are drinking quality

Which is Exactly what i'm getting at.

I said Remi vsop if you actually want to drink it as opposed to just look at it and brag about it to your mates or on the internet.

Sigh,
It's worth it if you've got money like that to throw about, but for me with my low income, no.
you said after £200 it's all the same, hence me 'trying' to explain that's incorrect.
Can't be arsed with it now, as you know it all, I forgot.

Vsop remi is not all that, it's just what you see in hip hop videos

Didn't word it vey well, I ment to say is it because the 18s dont have much give.

But thought as much, a larger profile would give you a less aggressive turn in.
