Going back to my comments and philosophy regarding asking 'searching' questions however, you say "a "VX" plate which were all Litchfield cars".

All cars imported and registered by Litchfield probably - indeed almost certainly - would be 'VX'.

But so would 'Worcester Ford', 'Malvern Volvo', 'Tewkesbury Citroen' ones as well, since VX is the reg prefix for the Worcester area.
And of course any Subaru lover living in that neck of the woods who privately imported one.

Anyway, I'm becoming guilty of diverting this thread.

A buyer should also have the confidence that a) your business has some decent write-ups on here; and b) if it ever was found not to be a 'Litchfield T25' Consumer Protection would do exactly that.

Final point to the op (and others perhaps), something to consider - if you buy this car how would you verify what it is when you come to sell?
The answer, I suggest, is whatever you need in this and any similar instance, regardless of car and dealer.
I understand where you are coming from but we definitely would not have advertised it as a T25 IF IT WAS NOT. We would just state its a replica with all the genuine parts if it was the case.

Going back to my point about a buyer needing to be able to verify the car should they ever put it on the market, seems like this thread is the prefect answer.

I think I'm right in saying that PH (and other such sites) use a 'standard' database, so you put say, 2003 Subaru in, and you can only have models such as WRX, STi, UK... or whatever's on the menu.

This of course leads to er.... queries sometimes.

I'm sure Max or someone will let us know if that's right.

Well, there's no need for any more queries regarding pedigree is there?
And the car's (deservedly) got a good bit of additional, free, PR.

GLWTS.

You've not seen me on a cricket pitch.

This line of work helps you grow thick skin, well it's getting thicker.....

Saying that I thought i'd share a story on that note. Had a chap come over today to see a blob 2.1 stroker built and fitted by our friend David API engines. Runs really well done around 17k on the engine. He said "that's a bit tappy" so I said that's a stroker engine for you and only sounds like that on idle. So he said can you start that one up for me so I obliged and by the end of it I had started 2 others up for his peace of mind. After 30minutes of this chap umming and arring I said look if you have genuine concerns and are not prepared to take my word for it then I suggest doing some homework prior to purchasing one with a 2.1 stroker engine. So I closed the shutters and off he went.

Me being me I felt obliged to not end it on a sour note with this guy as he travelled 60 miles to see the car. So I went outside and said if you have genuinely come here to buy the car then you are welcome to take it for a drive (as he felt the bottom end was knocking). I let him take it on a 15minute run on the dual carriageway and on our return he confirmed the engine was fine. Driving it upto 110mph, So we got over that hurdle.

Paperwork was next.......................

Going through the history......."oh it's got 6 year period where its not been serviced", so I had a look and said it had only done 4500 miles in a 2 year period and also stated 10 service stamps for a 11 year old car isn't bad at all, so in fact it's missed only 1 service. Also backed up with all old MOT'S from 3 years old onwards. So eventually he left. I was to say the least, not because he didn't drive the car away, far from it in fact as good ones are getting harder to find so didn't mind the car sat. but because he just tested my patience for the full 1hr 30 mins he was there. Now what do you do? Tell him to sling a hook? When I asked him if he had heard a 2.1 running before he said no, yet he was telling me about the car not sounding right.

Cut a long story short a lot of people would not have entertained him so yes skin is getting thick. Maybe a bit too thick

don't know how you do it, I go through about 1 car a year and that drives me up the wall every time I sell.

I am honest to a fault and price them nice and cheap so as if to treat others as I would want to be treated myself but despite this they stand there uming and aring like ******* idiots.

When I go to view a car I go with the intention to buy and if the the cars is as described then I buy it.

Idiots.
A pet hate of mine (along with buying/selling houses).

The general method seems to be price it too high, knowing a potential buyer will knock you down.
So a buyer expects the seller to have pitched it higher than they expect, regardless of how well-priced it is, and the seller gets miffed when they can't get the asking price down by 10 or even 20%.

Having said that there are exceptions to what seems to be the rule.
A few years ago the local 'banger man' had a nice Renault 20 advertised for £650. I liked it and bought it, no hassle, as described.
He said 'it's alright mate, just give me £600' and put some tax on it.

Max, I see what is going on here. All l can say is :

"Some of the people some of the time....."

We all get frustrated by people that aren't necessarily timewasters, but labour the point long and hard and then when all questions are answered honestly and promptly, disappear and are never seen again

Good luck

Nice one, I do the same with houses, last one I sold at auction was valued at £170k, I was offered £180k the day before auction and it went for £198k on the day.

I once did a car boot sale in which everything had to go on the day as I was moving house and having a major clear out. Having sold most items and made a decent amount of cash, as the day drew to a close I started shouting "offers any offers accepted, then have it for free everything must go" people were still questioning me and then became suspicious.
