Hoping to see some argy bargy on track.

 

Impossible with the current aero packages, specifically the front wing designs, they can't get close to each other in the turbulent air. Well this has always been the case, but its worse this season, DRS is your only hope for some overtakes. Or if the car has a massive advantage over the car they are passing Bernie/FIA fecked up the rules basically. You're better off watching sbk/motogp

 

IMO the powers that be need to change things, fast.

The Spanish GP is usually fairly processional so it's not a surprise that this weekend was dull, but the sport is just losing its entertainment value in recent years. So much so that even the boss of Silverstone said as much, before the race has even been there, which sounds a risky thing to do to me, but shows how desperate people are for some change.

It's getting to the point where the viewer is told by the commentators to be excited if a car slides a tiny bit around a fast corner, letting the chasing car close up by 0.3 seconds. It is tedious.

And compounded by the completely artificial overtaking when cars have DRS/different tyres/orders there's barely anything to like about modern F1 right now.

Before anyone says; I still watch it because I love what F1 used to be, and think it can be again, but right now I couldn't care a less who wins, and am happy to catch a race on iPlayer in the background.

 

Monaco is gonna be a complete snooze fest, its not exactly exciting even at the best of times.

 

Yup very similar to Spain, only one racing line, so overtaking is nigh on impossible. I really hope lewis does the kraut over in qualy this year It should be a walkover for the mercs as they were very quick in the tight/fanny corners in the last chicane in Spain.

 

yeah, tbh its not really a viable F1 circuit now, at least not from a race point of view.

Maybe should be turned into some sort of showcase now rather than a race.

 

Yep agreed, but there is so much money/prestige involved in that one event, i cant see that ever happening.

 

Don't think it actualy makes that much money for F1 (in fact just checked, pays no fees), its more the historic value hence keeping it as a showcase.

on a slight amusing side note, redbull are moaning again, I don't remember them moaning for the 4 seasons they had miles ahead of the field. I can;t help think perhaps F1 would be better without them

I was blown away by:

a) her sheer raw speed
b) her uber-cool head
c) her car control when under the most intense pressure towards the end of the races (and all throughout, in fact).

She appears to have the whole package! But with that X-Factor too.

Amazing talent. Plus, for bloody 14, she interviewed really impressively. Well above her years.

That's wonderful but it doesn't change the fact she's ****. Were as Sophia Floersch is a genuine talent.

I'd say my priorities are broader, rather than being focused purely on what I would and wouldn't stick my **** in.

 

You're making the mistake of trying to have adult conversations with people who are not much more sophisticated than an adolescent teenager and in some cases less so!

 

Whether this is true I don't know but another F1 thread on another forum, a lad said he works near RB and overheard some guys talking about VW. Pinch of salt I guess but interesting if true.

I must be one of the only people that actually likes the engine sounds. Like incar footage on LMP cars with the spinning wheel of death recovery systems whizzing away sound really cool IMHO.

On another note, I didn't know Haas F1 will be using Ferrari engines next year. They must be pleased with the moves forward they've made on the engine side of things. Honda probably could have done with another team to broaden their learning experience.

 

They shot themselves int eh foot by not letting prodrive in when they were interested.

Given audi's alignment with wec i can't see the group going to F1 tbh.

F1 need a big overhaul or it will fall away, its rested on its laurels for too long thinking its a cash cow

It needs to be made interesting/exciting again - like the Scumacher/Hakkinen era instead of the boring cr@p that it it is now

 

There were boring races back then too.

 

Yeah, but nowhere near as many as the current F1 crop.
