F1 - where is the thread?
Can't stand Nico but he is right about Lewis backing him up to Seb! On one hand why not but on the other, it was putting the teams 1-2 at risk!
After all the antics last year however - the moaning git deserves some in return!

Isn't it all part of being a driver? No team orders so why can't he play the game?
But poor Maldonado lol not once, not twice but thrice!! Looks like his website needs updating again although I'm not sure weather it was his or buttons fault that time. Maldonado did have the racing line that time but like culthard said, they both hit the brakes at the same time

I hope Toto Wolfe hands out a decent bo11ocking to Rosberg - "Boo hoo Lewis is driving too slowly, those nasty Ferrari boys are coming to get me"
Has he now got to have permission to overtake Lewis?
What kind of racer is Rosberg?
Best man won.
End of.

Don't see the problem, text book performance IMO, get out quick, put some air between himself and the rest of the field, cement the win then go easy on the car for the last few laps, what's happening to those behind is none of his concern even if it is your team mate.
Also nice to let him know who's in control.

only all you seem to do is post crappy links in random threads about it but you never really know what is actually going on in the sport.
OK while I not Rosberg's biggest fan I do think he has a bit of a point here. I am not saying Lewis did it deliberately as the team should have spotted it, but it was clear that if Rosberg held station 2s behind Hamilton (which he would have to do so as not to kill his tyres by running in the dirty air of Lewis' car) then the pace Hamilton was going would 'back him up' into Vettel's possible clutches.
You may ask why he didn't cruise up and pass Lewis if he deemed Lewis to be going so slow, but he knew how much faster Lewis could go (he's in the same car after all) and that if he did that then Lewis would simply speed up and leave Nico with compromised tyres.
The real issue is that Rosberg should be complaining to the team not to Lewis as Mercedes were too cautious over tyre wear this race after Malaysia and that is what the real issue was. The fault with his argument about Lewis backing him into Vettel was that Lewis would have preferred Rosberg to finish second than Vettel for the simple reason Vettel is closer to him in the championship standings than Rosberg. Why would he want Vettel to finish second?
Anyway at the end of the day it wasn't exactly a cracker of a race although at least we know that lad Verstappen can pass.

If orders exist, then the team are telling porkies and holding station is fine; but don't moan about it - tell the world's media at your first opportunity why you were unable to beat the man ahead.
If they aren't in place then Nico has just wimped out.
I see your point F1, but if Lewis and Nico are (supposedly) allowed to race, then why don't they get on with it instead of playing games. Either team orders are in place or they're not. Similarly either Nico can beat Lewis or he can't.

I think Nico is entitled to think that Lewis was backing him up, and even speak to management about it. But to speak to the media, so openly, sounds like whining to me from a man that gets paid a lot to race professionally. He needs to stop moaning and drive more quickly.

I wonder if we will see some on track needle in quali next week?
The point is that this race was the first race for a long time where Mercedes were actually worried about the competition. I don't think there were any team orders, but they knew if they both went hell for leather then the race could well be snatched off them by Ferrari. It was a case of racing Ferrari first and each other second.
If Nico had pushed Lewis even a little I'm sure he would have taken the hint and picked up the pace - just as he did when it suited him.
Sorry, but I just have him marked out as a devious whinging tart
Lewis did look a bit shifty tbh
when he answered in the interview that he was minding his own race or something similar to that.
I'm happy that Lewis continues to drive to his utmost potential, without any drama of crying and devoting his wins to his ex-files. Much healthier response to life situations. Good lad.

He did. Not seen the interview but didn't Lewis say somewhere that he was not holding back and was driving to the limit (or words to that effect) but as soon as Nico went in the pits Lewis put the hammer down and start dropping in purple sectors left, right and centre!
I think it's fair to say that the team should of given Lewis the hurry up way before Nico put in the request. We could all see that Lewis had pace in reserve and we could also see that the Ferrari was keeping Nico honest so why did that call not come from the team?

summit like that but then said they were managing tyres.
tbh its a tad depressing when the car's are being held back by tyres. But if that was the case i think mercedes would be lapping every car in the field

Rosberg did say during the race that if he closed up any more he would destroy his tyres.
Was pretty abvious Lewis had plenty more pace in the car if he had needed it, how that would have affected his tyres compared to ferrari we'll never know

Let's hope so - this rivalry is the best thing to happen to F1 in a while. I must admit, that in the back of my mind, I thought the 'whinge' may have been for the benefit of the media to stir up some interest in this duel?

Never mind the boring F1, did anyone see the Ginetta juniors races on ITV4 today, the 14 year german girl Sophia Floersch, won both races, outstanding car control, made everybody round look very amateur, will be one to watch in the future,
