F1 - where is the thread?
Yet they will lose that advantage next season as there are plans afoot to relax the engine design freeze so the others can catch up. In one respect I get that as we don't want to see one team dominating for four/five years (again), but on the other how galling must that be for Mercedes who have come up with the innovation?
I've never got into the football either I'm afraid, apparently it's all incredibly exciting cut throat competition between the competing sides in league
But we're less than a month into the season right,
I just couldn't keep concentration intrest till end April I'm afraid
Maybe I'll have to once I can't get out my chair

Isn't F1 elitist enough without this kind of exclusion?
Do we really want to go back to fields of just 18 cars?
Implement a cost cap already!
I have a mate in the Williams garage who told me that 2 wheel guys tripped each other up coming out for the pit stop. Heat of the moment thing, they are pretty pumped up.
back to back driver and manufacturer titles and the others are where?

Mind you I can't help but notice I've not heard any of the teams accuse each other of cheating this season.
FRIC suspension was resulting in accusations so the FIA banned it
My apologies, you are indeed correct. Same principal though.
Ah yes, forgot about that. Although wasn't the FRIC debate done and dusted at the very start of the season. Where as the RBR flexi wing saga went on forever.

Watched a about ten minutes of Wrc, gold coast I think.
That was enough, as far as i could tell every car was 1.6 litre shopping car trolley and the course might as well have been an obstacle course round a shopping centre car park

Ignore me I am just being a pedant... or a 'rat'
But yes same thing ... I suppose it just seems unfair sometimes that someone has a great idea and it gets copied or banned.
It was mid May I think when the FRIC rumours started, but I think the FIA have learned from the flexi-wing saga so acted quickly and decisively.

I can live with the copying, it keeps the teams pushing each other and it keeps the advancement in car design going. I do wish the FIA wouldn't run around banning everything though, the whole point in F1 is to push the envelope in what the rules and technology will allow. So banning any innovation the teams come up with seems wrong.
Being honest just copying the merc split turbo idea wouldnt have helped Redbull with their cooling and battery problems, so it isnt just the turbo that has made the difference.
Agreed, its the whole package, which is why I think not only will merc develop this configuration even further next year and still edge it out I also believe that Honda Mclaren will be very tasty next year.
Isn't it all but certain Vettel is going to Ferrari?!
Kvyat > Red Bull [confirmed]
Vettel > Ferrari
Alonso > McLaren
Despite all the usual silly season 'denial', bluster, etc., reading between the lines, then those moves look to be all but '100%', based on all the info and interviews, etc. in qualifying on Sky F1 earlier.
If the above is to be believed, looks very much like Button could end up the loser in all this...

If that was the case, which I doubt, where could Alonso go? If it did happen to be Vettel going to McLaren, Alonso would surely want Massa's seat.Or Vettel and Alonso are both going to McLaren

Or, for those really in to conspiracies who believe Bernie wants three car teams next year, Alonso is joining Mercedes

But who knows!
We'll know the situation of the movers and shakers soon enough, I'll wager...

Fantastic brave move by Hamilton on Rosberg on the outside of turn 1.
Rosberg may have the cooler and more calculating head, but when push comes to shove, he doesn't have the speed or skill to execute clean killer moves in the way that Hammy does.

especially with the Mercedes being that much quicker.
What has that got to do with anything?

Shhhhh!
