MY2015 WRX STi's. Stand up and show yourselves!!!
Can anyone do me a favour and check their car's steering please when turned off? Wobble it left to right from centre and check for any noise, maybe post a video if possible too?
I get this and Subaru told me it is normal because another one of their new STi's does it..
Now obviously it doesn't do it when the car is running, but I do get a very odd feeling as though the steering column is catching something when turning at speed or on bumpy roads. It's unnerving.. does anyone else get anything similar?
Thanks

If you have upgraded your exhaust,(https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...st-places.html) it sounds as if your steering column knuckle joint is catching the downpipe.

Completely factory exhaust although I had considered the downpipe issue as I've seen it on other cars before.
Thanks
You'll find most of them do it. Tried it on a 66 plate with 200 miles on the clock in for some goodie fitted and it rattles badly. Not tried my own yet
I have a video of this one if want me to email it to you

I find it unnerving feeling knocks through the steering at speed to the point where I don't push as much as I normally would.
Video would be appreciated though please, Rob. Thanks.

Any ideas what it could be Rob? Surely it's an issue of sorts especially if on many cars? Subaru had mentioned about one car that they replaced the rack and other components in an effort to stop the knocking during "performance driving" but it remained the same.

Possibly due to the lack of hydraulic assistance when the engine is off that the noise experienced is transmitted from the steering rack up the input shaft due to the lack of hydraulic fluid cushioning the internals of the rack.
However you mention you get yours when driving. I had just seen an issue with two front struts binding internally which made an horrendous noise but that had 16k on the clock.
I have a grey 2017 STI on it's way in the next week or so.
I'm a flaps man so want to put some mudflaps on.
What flaps, if any, do folk have on theirs?
Performance creation ones are £80 Rally Armour ones are £169. Not sure which ones to get.

Rally Armor on mine - https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...mud-flaps.html
Been on a while now with no issue at all and do exactly what they are meant to. Can't comment on others, but the RA and very good quality and can see them lasting.

Interesting!
Rob, how are you? I sent you an email over the weekend...it's about service etc. I think your inbox is full!!
Back to workshop eh?
happy days
Has anyone had success using Mirrorlink?
I got Starlink working but it's slow, fails to connect and doesn't really have anything that great to use.
Mirrorlink would be good for Nav but even though my HTC One M8 says Mirrorlink connected, the option remains grey out on the head unit.

Dont come on here these days, Sold up on Friday. Got shot of my 66plate STI & bought a new BMW.
If anyone with a 14 onwards sti is interested I have taken the genuine STI Springs from the red one covering 1600 miles only. Looking for £250 posted for the full set of 4.
picture from when first fitted, as currently boxed up. Will be fully cleaned prior to posting as some road grime is present.

Different, They drop the ride height approx. 15mm They are firmer or certainly felt that way. I don't have any exact figures to hand unfortunately. When I fitted the stock springs back into mine it certainly was noticeable and softer
Nice idea though.
Front springs: ST20330VV000
The coil spring which determined the specification by repeating running test under various conditions aims at improving the steering stability by increasing the roll stiffness without damaging the ride comfort. Moreover, along with the roll reduction effect of the car height down of about 10 mm as the standard vehicle, we will tighten the silhouette of WRX STI more sporty. * Coil spring is for adaptive model only.
※ For standard front strut.
※ Since the front and rear balance worsens when the vehicle weight is different, it can not be fitted to the non-applicable model.
※ It decreases about 10 mm against the standard car height (when empty), but the vehicle height change amount may change due to the installation condition of the OP, individual differences between the car body and parts.
Rear Springs: ST20380VV000

Granted it was a lovely car & wanted for nothing, Infact I'd just done the 1000 mile service on it as I usually do. But I found myself not wanting to take it anywhere due to its quite rarity in the uk & didn't want it damaged with stone chips etc, Plus the fact with the latest road tax increase & insurance I threw the towel in. Basically not using it enough to warrant the additional expense. The other reason is I knew I could cash out of the car with the latest price increase and get back what I paid for it To which I did and 2k more.
So win win for me, Was looking at a Mercedes but couldn't get them to talk sense on mine and wanted to give me bottom book. So went for a BMW and have not regretted it one bit.
Hi guy's I have decided to sell my 3 weeks old Big K-sport brakes, please see link below if interested,
