I have just had a full magnex de-cat system fitted to my MY98 impreza and it has made a massive difference, But the trouble is the down pipe just touches the the steering column shaft.
Has anyone had this before and know how to sort it, any advice would be very much appreciated.

Cheers.

I heard this was a problem with early magnex pipes but the design was revised. I've had a twin-dump on mine for about 4 months and its never hit the steering column so it seems you have an older design. Did you get it brand new?

Cool

I had this issue with a PE downpipe. It was in conjunction with mrt headers, which held the turbo about 1cm below regular height. I replaced the PE pipe with a BPM twin dump and all was fine.

I think we've sorted it thanks chaps, If we remove the gearbox bracket & enlarge the hole it should allow the d/pipe to sit further away from the steering column.

Right, that didnt work , so we took the downpipe off & heated up the additional wastegate pipe & gently tapped the pipe to give us apporx 1/2 inch clearance from the column. SORTED !
