You should try macdonalds in India, there's no beef only chicken.

Muslims can eat whatever is available when necessary, it's only the nut jobs on either side that make a big deal about it and yes they can bless any food halal or not.

I'm pretty sure all the burger/chicken chains are using Halal meat all over the world and have been doing so for quite some time, subway are just jumping on the band wagon.

 

The Macdonalds I went to the area was half Hindu, half Muslim. Didn't sell beef or ham/bacon. Chicken only! People still flocked there regardless.

 

India is a Hindu country (albeit with a mix of other religions thrown in) - they are the majority there! They are sticking to cultural 'norms' of the land for the majority. The difference here is that we are catering for the minority.

Sorry, but if Muslims don't eat bacon and ham and don't get on with establishments that serve it then eat elsewhere. I can't believe that a major chain would stop serving certain meats because a few people stamp their feet and shake their fists.

 

I'm not sure if a Muslim can eat food sacrificed to another idol (kosher) as it may come under shirk. Slightly OT but AFAIK if a Muslim idolises luck, ghosts, magic or even a popstar etc etc they will burn in the hellfire due to acknowledging an entity with powers/appeal a kin to Allah, polytheism/idolatry on a smaller scale. It just shows how far apart religions can take people, it's hard to fully understand a religion and what aspects understood incorrectly cause offense, like most religions though most of those who practice pick and choose what aspects to follow...

What scares me is that Halal has been just about successfully implemented in the UK across the board and with 40% of Muslims currently wanting Sharia (ICM opinion poll) will this be the next element to be implemented 'through the back door' so to speak.

If all it takes is for a private company to stop serving ham/bacon in a percentage of their stores where it probably was never in huge demand anyway (basically tailoring their menu for the local market so that they can make more money and less waste - bit I wouldn't expect a 'patriot' to understand that anyway) for said people to feel the county being taken over then maybe.... This is just a business decision, I don't know why people feel a need to have a go at Muslims just because some may have shown there is a demand for a different menu.

I very much doubt a load of Muslims have been taking to the streets, kicking up a stink demanding stores ban pig based food and serve Halal. It's more likely been a case of the stores that have implemented these changes have done so purely because they believe they will make more money as a result.

Out of curiosity, (a question for the Muslims) could Subway have still sold ham/bacon etc if it were prepared/stored in a separate area to the Halal meats?

 

I don't think they can serve both, as far as I know but Shaid/Banny might be able to tell us.

There is a chap I manage at work who gets offended if someone eats a bacon sandwich near him (so we try and be respectful of that, although we haven't stopped eating bacon sarnies, each to their own etc.)

 

The Muslims must of asked for this,subway must have seen the demand from some where. The thing is they will of seen other demands from vegetairans etc but IMO feel they would have had more pressure from the Muslims. They can't cater for everyone and need to find the right market but one that comes with the higher PC . I just hope that in the future you will be able to step of a plane and be able to tell the difference. I think diversity can be a good thing but I also like to experience different cultures and would like people to be able to come to this country and experience are culture.

They may well have asked. An interest must have been shown otherwise this wouldn't have come about. However, I don't think this has anything to do with being PC or bowing to pressure. The franchisees of these outlets will have implemented any changes ultimately for their benefit. If it wasn't going to benefit them financially, do you honestly think they would have done it?

It Is easier to rule over a divided, confused and squabbling population because while we are too busy fighting amongst each other.

I think swift globalisation with mass immigration encouraged by world leaders (from viewing how Westernised cultures could evolve to being) was 1 last desperate bid to dilute cultures and war causing factors. All it did was move cultures around and cause divides.

With the growing influx of Islamists, radicalisation in prisons and at some Mosques It'd be interesting to hear from Atheists of a Muslim background if they feel a growing pressure to start practicing in some shape or form.

Do moderates or Asian atheists feel Islamification of the UK (Halal/Operation Trojan Horse/Sharia courts/Illegal Sharia Controlled zones/Islamic loans etc) is real or just right-wing propaganda? Why do Muslims feel BNP, EDL, Britain First, Liberty GB amongst many more political parties/pressure groups are mainly targeting them over other religions/cultures/ideologies?

 

Yep, although there will always be a handful of Muslims who will never be happy with that either.
