Would we put these in same league as ad08 rather than a r888/propa semi slick?
Thinking of the soft compound as track day /road tyre

 

Just got a set of the 120 compound in 225/40/18 fitted to my bugeye, will be at Goodwood this Saturday for a trackday to see what's what.

Used a set of these yesturday with the 120 compound.

I thought that they performed brilliant on track!! stuck like glue luckily it was a nice dry day for it.

I would most definitely used a set of these again!!!

 

My thoughts.... did 4 x 15 minute sessions at Goodwood. First one was wet and the tyres had done less than 100 miles since fitting so still needed scrubbing in - took it easy and didn't really learn too much. Other than they seemed to grip at least as well in the wet as my vredestein sessantas (although there was no standing water to deal with).

Rest of the sessions were dry and the grip increased through the day as the tyres scrubbed in properly. I'm sure they run out of grip before R888's will, but not by too much in my opinion. For the price, they're awesome value.

As long as you can deal with all the people asking what tyres you're using, and having to answer 'Nankang'....

Oh, just to add, they make a lot less noise than 888's at motorway speeds too, could easily live with them every day

I bought a set of these a few weeks back, had them fitted a few days ago with some eibach springs and a geometry setup. I am really pleased i bought these, grip is awesome (for me at least)

 

has anybody purchased these in the soft compound for road use ?? can u comment on how you find them for daily use and the wear rate your experiencing ??

Im tempted to try a set as will be doing track days and events too..

Just bought a set of 120s for £360

Hopeful for a few laps of knockhill on the 28th if my clutch is fitted in time. Will be driving the car there and back so will comment on road noise aswell.

 

Got a set of 215/45/17 R180s on mine, brilliant tyres absolutely great so far and really compliment my whole setup

 

Didn't manage any laps of knockhill due to sleeping in ( just off a night shift) however did take the drive up and spent the last few days scrubbing them in best i can on a few local roads.

The road noise really isn't an issue. they're not as loud as a lot of other tyres i've used.
The grip is amazing as far as i can tell so far, although not having tested them properly on track ill reserve final judgement.

What i have noticed is how stiff they are, i run 12kg/mm & 8kg/mm springs on my coilovers so can put the flex on most sidewalls very easily but these tyres tend to slip a bit before any noticeable flex which i quite like.

ill report back as soon as ive gave them a proper thrashing on track.

Does anyone on here have a set of 888s or similar mounted on 17s with 110pcd that would be willing to do a direct comparison on track?

 

I had a set of these on my previous car couldn't fault them tbh and will prob get them again when these potenzas wear out.

 

Going to order a set of these , does the 45 profile throw the speedo out as I've always used 17x215x40 , they will be replacing nearly new hankook k110 evo v12 as I find them way too soft Even at 38 psi they feel like jelly

 

what sort of mileagare are people getting out of the soft (120) in comparison to the mediums (180)?

Looking at some new tyres and the softs are loads cheaper at moment, but if they need changing after 5k its not really worth it (cars daily driver with occasional track time at japfest etc).

 

I'm running the 120's and so far i've done a day at Goodwood on track, 5 laps of the Nurburgring and probably a couple of thousand road miles. They've probably worn a couple of mm, but I expect most of that was the track work. They won't last ages but i'd be surprised if you didn't get 10k out of them with just road driving.

ended up going for the medium 180s on 18s - £68 a tyre from tyreleader.co.uk

 

Just had mine fitted today , so much better than the hankook evo v12 they replaced steering has gone from super light to a nice feel , what is the best pressure for them currently at 32 psi all round

What are these tyres like in the rain? There is usually quite a few puddles where I live, would the harder compound be recommended for road use in the wet?

I have had no issues with them. They have been designed to make sure you don't aquaplane

 

I have had nankangs in past only on cars upto 200bhp and they were really good I mentioned a few years ago about getting some for the Scooby and was keyboard rapped on here lol...so ended up with toyo proxies which are no shacked .so went with falkens instead but got a deal on 4 and saved about £40+ on price of the 180 nankangs

 

after reading good review I have got a set in soft for the wifes rally car to be used in new brighton next month. we normal use dmack rc but they are s//t hot but pricey lol so see whats whats lol i will do a review afters

 

They come with a load of tread... mine got better and better as they scrubbed in..
