It's based on tread wear 120 being the stickier track rubber but will wear out quicker because it's a softer compound then 180 which can still be used on track but last longer as it's based on road wear(E marked),you would not want a street tyre to wear out after 3k on the road, it's the same scenario with the Yoko AD08/AD08R.SJ.

I got the NS-2R's on my Hawk for Track use. Ended up using them for the road too after using them during the wet on a track day. Great tyre with loads of grip the only difference i noticed is people on 888's were able to stay out for more laps as i think the 888's could handle the heat better but at less than half the price i was happy enough.

To be completely honest Nankang tyre's have never ever come into my mind for a viable purchase,but as they say the proof in the pudding is in the eating,and when my mate gave me a proper drive of his Subaru with these tyres fitted I was blown away.We did not talk tyres until we got back from Essex and I assumed that he had copied me and bought the AD08 rubber because of the way the car handled but when I got out of the car he said have a look to my disbelief they were "Nankangs".So to answer your question I would go with the Nankangs as they are the freshest tyre to my mind at present,but they are both superb tyres,thinking hard though the sessantas might just have the edge over the wet work but for dry roads the Nankangs have the vrediesteins beaten.SJ.

Maggy at RTS is quoting around a £100 a corner for 18's - I guess that might even be fitted
The reports I've heard is they are good for the price but there is certainly a difference between these and Yoko's although probably not £150 a corner difference. I'd be interested to see how these compare to Federal RSR595s as these seem to be in a similar ball park

assym 2 compound is soft to,tread wear is crap but are unbeatable on wet(ad08 r compound could match them maybe) and similar on dry to 180 compound nankangs.
for 40 quid difference to assym 2 I wouldn't touch nankangs.
I will try front ad08r -better cornering with stiffer sidewalls then assym 2
and rear assym 2(ive got 2 new ones)-rear is less heavy ,tyre better on wet -aquaplaning.

A comment about the NAKANGS NS-2R Taken from demon tweeks website.SJ.

i will mate once mine arrive and fitted.
never bought decent road tyres before,saved the money to buy the best track tyres instead so this will be a good comparison to the budget tyres that are on at the moment..well i guess the ns-2r is still a budget tyre at that price

they came yesterday and they look great,the shoulders are loads more square than usuall road tyres so should be as wide as my current 235`s.
will get them fitted at weekend.

You can mix whatever you wish if that helps,psi, tyres,pads ,coilovers softeners,arb set up etc
You need to learn more kid
I wouldn't touch budget tyre for road use with crap wet grip especially where now are almost 20quid per corner more expensive than assym 2.
If op has tight budget and can't afford 888 for track use than he can use them,but don't put ditch finders on public forum for other members for road use.

Even 180 compound is ******* sticky for road tbh I find my 140 RSR's and even the 180 AD08's pick up every bit of grit going If you want a road tyre, buy a road tyre, 240 or whatever If you do track go for the other, but don't bitch at the tyre wear or the poor cold weather performance I have Toyo PX4's on my c.200 bhp vRS and they take huge amounts of abuse If you can drive, you can drive, stickier tyres won't make you better at what you're not already very good at. Enjoy
