How do the Bilstein's compare to the stock set up? As it was always a common complain that the stock suspension skips a fair bit on lumpen roads. Does the bilstein feel better?
Are they bound/rebound adjustable?
Regards
Errol
Hello mate,
It's been a long time since I drove on the stock set up, I'm not really a fan of it.
So far the Bilsteins have really impressed me. The damping is excellent and well matched to their choice of spring rate.
Mine are the off the shelf B14 kit with no provision for adjustment (specifically my choice). The B16 kit is adjustable (compression & rebound together).
You can also order custom valving & spring rates if you want dependant on use.
I do have the STI Pillow ball trailing arms and lateral links though. These make a big difference to how the car responds
This is very interesting and is the 2nd time i'm reading the the arms and links with the pillowball bushes making a bid difference.
I didn't think the STI pillow ball arms and links made that much of a difference to be honest.
Did you manage the feel the only difference with them fitted or were they fitted with a host of other suspension mods?
What difference did the arms and link make? I'm guessing it made the rear wheels contact rough surface a bit better by allowing the suspension to work better?

I've upgraded the chassis in stages so have been fortunate enough to feel what each upgrade does.
The STI pillow ball lateral links (I've tried both types, the triple and full pillow ball) and the STI pillow ball trailing arms make a big difference to how the car responds & turns in. They make the rear of the car feel connected and allow the rear suspension to move more freely.
The OE rubber bushes in the lateral links and trailing arms are very soft. The Grp N bushes would be an improvement but I suffer no NVH with the STI pillow ***** so they would be my choice.
