Disc splash guards???

Disc splash guards???
Does anyone run with the disc brake splash guards removed ? mine r all rusty and look abit erm........ well naff really ha ha ha. Iv cleaned em up abit like but just thinking could i remove em with out affecting the wet weather braking performance .

Thanks Ian, I've just read that they are there to stop any heavy dirt or cv grease getting on the discs if the cv boot ripps open. Hhhhmmmm i might just paint em maybe.

Well my cv boots are original ones so they are old timers now, thats all i was thinking. Also Ian, do you know if id need to use two bolts to screw into to rear disc/drums to remove em or would they usually just come off with a few taps of the hammer ?

They should come of easily once you back off the hand brake adjusters. If you try to jack them off with bolts you could snap the retainer pins that hold the shoes to the back plate.
