We always take them off when doing a big brake kit , and never had an issue , the fronts are bolted on , the rears are spot welded on , easy enough to remove both
Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian, I've just read that they are there to stop any heavy dirt or cv grease getting on the discs if the cv boot ripps open. Hhhhmmmm i might just paint em maybe.

I guess if you have an issue with driving through heavy dirt , or your CV joints split on a regular basis I can see it being a problem , but we've never seen an issue in the last 20 years

Well my cv boots are original ones so they are old timers now, thats all i was thinking. Also Ian, do you know if id need to use two bolts to screw into to rear disc/drums to remove em or would they usually just come off with a few taps of the hammer ?

Cheers.

They should come of easily once you back off the hand brake adjusters. If you try to jack them off with bolts you could snap the retainer pins that hold the shoes to the back plate.

As above , you should never force the discs off , if they are rusted onto the drive flange , a quick tap with a mallet will unstuck them , if they don't pull off then the handbrake shoes need slackening off
Cheers Ian
