Default Squeaking clutch master cylinder

On a 95 Wrx , it is 20 yrs old so not complaining but what would cause the actual master cylinder to squeak/creak ? I've lubed all linkages but the sound I'm sure is coming from the master cylinder as if you go under the pedals the sound is near the bulkhead .

Thinking of buying 2nd hand one then replace the seals on it

Question , like most things , later parts can be fitted to earlier classics , do any later / newer clutch master cylinders fit a classic ?

Cheers

I'm going back many years, but I had a 95 WRX. Did exactly the same thing. If I remember correctly, new clutch master cylinder fitted. Wasn't that much.

Is it definitely the master cylinder not the clutch release arm/lever pivot pin ?? Had a bad creak on my old car when clutch was pressed and it turned out the pin that the clutch release arm pivots on was seizing up.

Any update on this? Wondered if the replacement master cylinder fixed the issue.

Well

New master cylinder (2nd hand but cleaned up with meths , the purple stuff ) and guess what , no more squeak or creaking

My old one didn't squeak when removed but guess under pressure is where it counts , I did notice the fluid would go black last time I flushed fluid so that was the start of seals going maybe

Excellent. Thought so. Another job ticked off. Probably 3 other ones added to the list whilst you were sorting that one.

Ha cheers guys , luckily no more jobs added to the list , I cleaned the bulkhead so that was a nice side job done lol

I'm guessing it could be the spring inside the master cylinder ? Only part I can think of , maybe it corrodes or stretches ???

Cheers
