I am unable to remove mapped devices which were used as SCSI-3 persistent fence devices in a Veritas Cluster Server - i've seen this problem before and seem to remember it requires sending a command to remove the SCSI-3 persistent reservation.... the cluster has been removed/shutdown.


Any ideas ?

 

So have I - also get it when using SAN disk previously allocated to AIX boxes.

Damn it - can't remember the command, isn't is something to do with VxFEN and IO fencing toolkit.

I should be able to dig out the info tomorrow if you still need it.

 

To remove co-ordinator disks...

Import the disk group - vxdg -tfC import ‘cat /etc/vxfendg‘
Use vxdiskadm to remove disks from dg
Deport disk group

Theres also the vxfenadm -x <device> command to remove key registrations but i have never used it.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to get back to this.
I should have mentioned at the beginning that my customer had disassembled the cluster (and removed the software!!). The only way I found of getting round this was to physically access the storage array and reset the ports he was presenting to the non-existent cluster. He bottled it, reinstalled VCS and ran vxfenadm
