I have just bought my 1st scoob dgm my98 with a prodrive kit I just need to add a couple of things one being the fog lights which spotlights to replace them?

P1 HIDS :cool: - but they're hard to get all the bits for & relatively expensive...

Scoobysport 130W Cibies - absolutely blinding & about £200

However, if you are more affluent & like the idea of HIDs then Scoobysport also do the same size in Hella HIDs - £450 odd?

Don't forget to uprate your standard bulbs anyway as going from daylight into darkness takes a bit of getting used too ;)

What abour the PIAA's? . Quoted £275+vat from main dealer.

Group Buy for PIAA's being organised just now.
We asked what customers wanted, and with the dark nights now upon us, the PIAA's came out on top.
We ran a similar group buy at the beginning of the year through Scoobynet and eventually took every set PIAA UK had at the time.

I did favour the piaa's until I read about their bulbs a lot of people seem to share the same view that they are very good but they just don't last?

I've had PIAA's on my MY '00 for about a year - not blown a bulb yet.

Make sure your bumper is firmly fixed though - there can be problems on some cars where the extra weight and leverage (they sit further forward than the original fogs) can make the bumper vibrate - and this can kill the bulbs.

Fixing the bumper, assuming the yours is the facelifted car, is just a matter of fitting some repair washers under the 2 lower mountings. Dead easy, quick look under the front - you'll see the bolts, about in line with the edge of the radiator aperture in the bumper.

Whip one off at a time, fit 10mm x 38mm repair washer (B&Q Warehouse), refit bolt with some Loctite, job done.

Thanxs the other reason I wasn't in favour of the piaa's was the fact that the roads here in rural suffolk are crap especially the 10 miles of b and c roads I use to go to work and the farm track this may add to any probs with sensitive lights and bulbs whoever make them but thanks for the info.

Fitted my ss cibies today.
Just been out for a drive around the lanes, awesome is the word were looking for, however as ive read on a previous thread the main headlights really are made to look poor when you switch off the cibies. Next purchase some brighter bulbs.

Hope you have more luck with your SS Cib's than I have! This is the third Scoob that I've had them fitted in and I've never been able to run more than 55w bulbs without them blowing! 100w's last a little longer than 130w's but still go within a few weeks! I know there are quite a few people out there that claim they've had the same bulbs in for ages and no problems. Perhaps I'm just (very) unlucky. Cars they've been in are: MY97, MY99 and now a WRX. I think the heat build up in the H2 bulbs is just too great. Well that's my opinion.

I too have had lots of problems with my ss cibies bulbs blowing. I have been thinking of changing them for a set of PIAAs but not sure if they would be any better? At the moment i'm runing 55w bulds in them but just not bright enough now. Can anyone recommend an alternative?

Got some Cibie Oscar SC's from Scoobymania that I had on my Turbo. Absolutely brilliant. And easy to fit. About to put them on my P1.

I have got my PIAA's linked to the old fog light switch, by doing this they Only come on when switch is turned on and main beam activated. This saves them coming on during flashing lights, when you don't need them, etc

No blown bulbs so far

this sounds good to me but will it pass the mot? I thought thats driving lights must go out when you dip your mainbeam?

They do go out when you dip headlights.(as you say if just operated by foglight switch they are illegal)

It gives you the option of main beam only or main beam + PIAA's

I've got my Cibbies wired the same as Jaz and I've not had any problems yet with blown bulbs (3 months), I guess the longer nights will be the test...
