Benn using Bridgestones for the past 5 years, SO2's and SO3's (215/40/17) fantastic tyres IMHO.

Now that they have decided to axe the SO3's i am somewhat torn as what to get. I love the way the old stones felt on the road and i don't want a lesser all round tyre.

I am swinging towards the F1GSD3's or the Michi Pilot Sports. Anyone else done that same move care to comment??

Used to use Toyo T1-S but changed to Goodyear GSD-3's
Fantastic tyres wet and dry

 

Used to have Toyo T1-S but didn't rate them in the wet. So far I can't complain about my new Michelin Pilot Sport 2's. Never tried Goodyear's, other than that had RE050 OEM fit which I didn't think were that bad either.

Now on my second set of F1s (after trying a few of the other popular chocies) and rate them very highly all round. Good value, too.

But just for a change, and see if the Michelins were really that good, I thought I'd give Pilot Sport PS2s a go, even at a price. Couldn't get them in 215/40x17, though

Can't find the PS2's in 215/40/17, guess they don't make them in that size.

I read your responses and went to get some F1's fitted, just got back. Tyres seem much quieter and side walls appear to be quite rigid (not quite as much as S03's, but close).

One downer though, when they removed the tyres they found a small 1cm long crack on the inside edge of one of my ST2's. Been told that Forge Motorsport can repair and weld it, just got to find out the cost now

Sad you didn't try the 050s Iain, would have liked to hear what you thought of them.

Sorry to hear about the crack tho... But good it was found before a failure!

 

When did they stop making these? I just spunked near on £300 quid (255/40/17) on a set of rears, and will need some fronts soon!

I must admit that i wasn't enthralled with much confidence with regard to the 050's, don't ask me why, it was just one of those gut feelings.

Regarding the crack, it's just on the beading part of the inner edge, so apparently totally repairable if done properly by someone like Forge. Luckily theyre only 20miles from me and i'm gonna try and get it done tomorrow, so it'll be a slow drive on a space saver to gloucester lol. It must have been there for a while as when i looked at it properly at home (removed the wheel etc) there was a tiny amount of corrosion around the crack.
