They're having a laff!
Thanks to all in reply to my locking wheel nuts thread.
I contacted my local dealer (name withheld) via email to ask for pricing for a set of locking wheelnuts for a 1994 Subaru Impreza Turbo 5 door hatchback. - I did not mention Wagon, as that might have tipped them off. Yes, it is for an, gasp!, imported WRX Wagon, gasp!
I got this reply:
<quote>Do you have a chassis number please?</quote>
Not being stupid I did kind of expect this response, but come on! they don't even give me a price for god's sake! They could at least give me the price and then tell me that they will require a chassis number before I can purchase.
I did reply to thier message asking if this was a joke and asking why they need a chassis number for the wheel nuts when I'm informed by many other impreza turbo owners that the bolts are the same regardless of the MY of the car (or is this wrong?)
I said that if they were unwilling to provide the details/items then I'd take my business elsewhere.
I also asked for the name and contact details of their branch manager and head of IM, and I said I was going to write to them and ask/inform them of this ridiculous situation, doubt anything will come of it though.
grrrr, bloody IM and their hate of grey imports. I can see their viewpoint but this is silly. I guess I am a bit out of order for trying to pull the wool over the dealers eyes.

Ian:
Don't suppose you have a part number to hand? or should I just phone demon tweeks and ask them? Are they universal fitting or do I need to specify that its for a Subaru Impreza Wagon?

just ring 01978-664468 tell them your car make and there with you in 1 or 2 days .I spoke a moment ago and all Impreza's no matter UK or import are the same as far as wheel nuts go.
Just goes to show how unhelpful the t$*ds at Subaru uk were doesn't it!!

After finding that Thule roofbars wouldn't fit my STi4 (due to the optional extra wind deflectors fitted above the doorline), it became apparent that I had to have the proper Subaru item.
I drove to my local Subaru dealership (name withheld for their protection), parked in the middle of their carpark and strolled up to the service desk. I confirmed the price (quoted as a 1998 4 door) and placed the order by phone a couple of days later.
They phoned me to confirm they had arrived, I drove back to the dealership, parked "centre-stage" again and did the deal. One of the workers even took a quick look at the car, prompted by the 'music' from my Scoobysport exhaust no doubt.
Very nice chaps who obviously live in the real world.
Next time they ask for a chassis No, you should try fixing him with a gaze and saying:
"You don't want my chassis number; this isn't the WRX your looking for...."
Worth a go I think?
Neil.

I am seriously considering driving over to the dealer and parking up and going in and getting the wheel nuts. They should certainly hear me coming with the SuperDrager barking away!
Don't think I'll bother though. I'm off to phone DT and order a pair of Paddy Hopkirk nuts (oh-er!).

Guess my local dealer is a stickler for the rules! I've now got a pair of Paddy Hopkirk locking wheel nuts winging their way to me from demon tweeks.
cheers for the advice guys.

I agree with Moray, things like that could stop them helping you in future!!
That said, and back to the original point, I think you would have been safer saying it was a 1996 (ie - the year it was first introduced to the UK) 5-door car!!
Just for future reference!!!
