If it's a decent MOT on it and drives ok yo've nowt to lose.
I've had 3 and the engine's are by far the strongest things on 'em.
They rust badly, in all the usual places, aren't electrically the best cars ever and the track rod end seems to go more than normal.
If it drives straight and has a decent MOT then the price is ok.
Let it warm up on a drive and then idle for a few minutes and check the temp guage. Had a few coolant problems on 2 of my 3 past 309s.
Can't think of anything else.

No.
For a H reg it's bound to have a few miles on it.
It will have an oil pressure guage on the dash, don't worry if it's not working - they often don't!
Just check for blue smoke and **** on the radiator cap. Strong engines that'll do 200k miles+ if looked after.
Give it a good rag in each gear as with any car.

Looks ok from the picky, things to note on the 309, front balljoints go and you need to replace the whole wishbone approx £70 for each side the droplinks also go but these are only £15 each so listen for clonking from the front, true thing about the cooling I put 2 rads in mine in 4yrs. Check the wheel angle at the back too much neg camber and it means the spigot is worn or worse the axle is worn, there are bushes on the inside of the axle that wear on the trailing arms and it is an expensive job to get done. As per usual check over the electrics and the brake lines and general wear and tear items. Lumpy idle is common it can be cured by turning the idle up (bodge) or striping the idle screw out and cleaning the throttle body up as it gets dirty over time also it is not uncommon to find the throttle position sensor is out slightly it needs to read a certain resistance when the engine is not running, sorry I can't remember the reading or pins to check but you can get the values from a Haynes book. Drive shaft gaiters are a PITA to change due to the driveshaft set up so save yourself some grief and check these. Brakes should be pretty strong but braided lines make a huge difference to these cars, check the rear brakes extensively, it is noy uncommon for the H'brake not to work very well (driven from the calipers) also the rear compensators pack in occasionally so the foot brake doesn't work. Otherwise enjoy, these are great cars and don't believe everbody that the 205 was a better handling car I've drove both and I think the 309 is marginally better due to the wider wheelbase and longer length, it makes it more composed and less nervous.
Mr M, this car is in the for sale section with more pics, more details and only £350.
You having a laugh? They are the best car ever to be made

309s as indeed 205's don't rust badly. Unless they have been really uncared for in which case you don't want it anyway. Its only the really early cars that rust as around 1986/1987 Peugeot changed to galvanised steel panels (first manufacturer to do so
) and so there should be hardly any rust on them at all. A rusty panel shows uncared for or that its been repair with pattern parts (which rot) rather then Peugeot galvanised parts.

The 309 gti i had as a runabout had 101k on and the sweetest engine in the world (full peugeot service history!!).
If you get to thinking of buying one of these, i would suggest you go for a Goodwood limited edition, but be careful as the biggest problem isnt engine or gearbox related, its the rear beam
These can cost you around 6-800 quid to replace (you cannot change the bearing unfortunatly) and they normally suffer around the 100k mark
Great cars if looked after properly (the interior gets tacky though).

Body is strong and doesent rust (weve had 3), engines go on for ever if serviced, trim is made from Kinder Surprise toy though, they always have a 'Distinctive' smell as the get older as well !
