Does a Bear **** in the woods?

It's quite a regular thing, especially with aftermarket air filters or induction kits.

Some folk have swapped them and ran for years without ever having problems; others change it and within days, the MAF's buggered.

What "Suabru laptop" did your m8 use? Deltadash or a Select Monitor or something else?

I've seen the MAF cleaned and fixed (although apparently his car has developed the problem again a good few weeks down the line), but it usually needs replaced.

It was around £300 , but apparently you can get just the sensor in Greece and the US for around £50-£60. It's worth investigating if it's available over here for the same cost.

Stefan

A thread going back years ago highlighted that unsupported replacement *induction kits* can cause failure of MAF sensors due to vibration.

Probably why K&N supply there kits with a support bracket.......

I was speaking to my dealer who said they would leave my warrantee with limited mods but warned that they had 2 failures of MAF after intake systems were fitted.
The techie in Performance Subaru was telling me it's the systems that are oil infused that cause it and the paper kind are ok (or what ever their made of). I think the HKS is teh oil infused foam type so that might explain that.
