Just checked my tyres over (see https://www.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyr...scrubbing.html) and they're not PS2, they're PE2 (Exalto).

Bit gutted really; it's a fleet car, so I didn't have to pay for them, but the tyre place hinted that they'd fit PS2 so I assumed they did.

They did a good job otherwise (balance weights on inside of rim etc.) but I'm a bit gutted.

Anyone know anything about these tyres? At least they're 'extra load' versions I guess...

 

In the Tirerack scheme they are 'Ultra High Performance Summer' tires, sorry tyres. They appear to do well against the others in that category:

Interesting that RE070's are in the same category.

However, the RE050's that you had before are in the next category up at no. 13:

All the survey results above need to be taken with a pinch of salt. The actual tests for that tyre look encouraging, especially in the wet, but not tested against anything like the RE050's:

The PE2 is a newer design tyre than the PS2's.
PE2's were designed using experience from the WRC whereas the PS2's were designed using experience from F1.
So says a quick google search anyway, personally i've always found Mich Pilots to be soft, sticky but to wear quickly and tramline badly when they do wear.
If you didn't pay for them you should be well chuffed with what you've been given. If I ran a fleet i'd be specifying cheapo tyres only....

 

Cheers for the replies; I had a quick scout on-line and they appear worse than PS2 (not suprisingly) but not too bad.

Good in the wet (wouldn't be bad if it was the start of winter rather than the end).

Worse bit is they appear to last for ages! At least if I drove a fwd car I could spin them away quickly!

You're right that a free tyre is a good tyre, but I was looking forward tro something better than the 050s (which I rate).

I'll have to see what they're like when scrubbed in etc.

PE2s are standard fit on the Clio 182 and I can say from experience that they are awesome tyres. Although that is a different car of course and the tyre size is 205/45/16.

Not cheap though.... but then good quality rarely is

 

I've them on my modified Forester 2.5 XT
these tires are much better than the old PS1 I had on my impreza.
I can't compare them with the PS2, never drove the PS2.
The side walls could be a little bit stiffer, but the grip is excellent and they have a low noise level. Much much lower than the bridgestones.
But in case of steering response I would chose the bridgestones.

OK time for new rubber and kwik fit are offering 4 for the price of 3 and £40 in fuel vouchers for Michelins.

I am currently running the Michelin exalto Extra Load versions which have worn very well especially the edges.

So where did the Extra Load versions go because they don't seem to be in the michelin range any more
