Default Matador MP46

Looking to drop 4 new tyres on the Scoob at the end of December and want to have good traction in wet / snow and decent in the dry - was considering 4 x Matador MP46's (I see they are graded as summer tyres with decent wet handling characteristics)? weekend driving mainly (weekend car), some snow fun if we get any (or when the weather is horrendous and I must get somewhere) but mainly just weekends / odd commute if I fancy it (thats what the saab is for though) - what do you guys think? there is also the MP52s but they are pricier.

Also considering goodyear eagle f1s - any recommendations?

Thanks guys

Matador are classed as 'economy brand tyres'

on a Subaru you say?

traction you say?

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/

'premium tyres' for performance car or 'mid range' as a minimum

And yet the review of this tyre on the site that you provided the link for is very good?

I don't see a problem with that choice of tyre but I am interested in hearing your experience with it so that I may choose wisely, so please feel free to elaborate.

I don't have a set budget for this so any suitable tyre based on my requirements is a potential buy.

You seem to have plenty of experience so rather than post a link I am already aware of, what is your opinion based on field experience of said requirements?

Matador is part of the Continental group and I wouldn't class them as economy brand tyres

I've used Matador tyres on several cars like here or over in Slovakia or Czech Republic

Review is here

Really depends how you drive and what you are expecting from tyres, but I've find them as good and never let me down

I would rather use those tyres than any budget tyres and if I would choose winter tyres,I would choose only Matador/Barum tyres

i take your point 100% but the other Matador models dont rate too good

i was trying to state cheap or cheaper tyres are cheap for a reason

that site has a lot of traffic and they class it as an economy brand not me id never heard of Matador before today

I put 4 of them on my scoob about 3 months ago and cant fault them at all there much better than the yokahama that were on, ive only ran them in wet and cold conditions and theve been just as good as anything ive used before including eagle f1's, I was dubious aswell with the funny name but you wont be disappointed, they grip well in all conditions there quiet on motorways and there a comfortable ride on 225/40/18

never used matador or so i thought.just bought a a3 with them on the front.only drove home on them and whipped em off in favour of some new alloys and potenzas.only thing ive noticed was how much quieter the car is on the potenza.imo please consider the kuhmo ku 37 or 39 had them on numerous cars and for virtually the same price as the matadors are a really good all rounder.1st time i used them was when i had a vx220 turbo and the forum lads rated them highly for road and track

there should never be any compromise for price when it comes to rubber......it is the only thing that is in contact with the ground....

in my job I see a lot of different tyres used etc and there is a lot of difference in them all yes but tyres also react differently to the way they are driven and the set up of the car

just my opinion

i had them on my legacy, not confidence inspiring in the wet and would get slidey when hot, replaced with eagle f1 assymetric 2's, night and day difference.

No good on track either, i killed them off on purpose on the last trackday just to justify get something decent, Worst tire i have ever had.
