different hubs i think

sti is 5x114pcd

wrx is 5x100pcd

no amount of pushing/shoving/kicking and screaming will get them to fit

If they came from a 2007 STI then they would be 114.3 fitment and your car is 5x100 so that's why they won't fit mate.

Offset is calculated from the distance to the centre of the wheel. Fitting spacers decreases the offset. Use this calculator below to work out the differences
http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

remember to deduct the spacer width from the wheel offset.
eg. if your wheel has a 55mm offset and spacers are 25mm thick, you new offset will be 30mm.
Please Note Your wheels will probably be 2cm outside of the arches not recommended if you are running on stock suspension (and it is illegal).
