Default Tyres? Yokohama ad08 or toyo r888

Nearly that time again, new set of rubber for my gc8 impreza.
Currently on Avon zz3 no complaints, been a good tyre in the dry and very impressed in the wet but it's only tyres iv ran on my impreza, it had them on when bought the car and I liked them so stuck with, but fancy a change this time.
After an all year/all weather tyre.

Thinking either AD08s or R888,

R888 aren't really an all year/weather tyre !

You will get away with AD08r's though. That's what I run. Great tyre. Awesome in the dry and not too bad in the wet, but I'll be removing mine when winter kicks in and saving them for summer fun

You get what you pay for though

What do you run in the winter then? Maybe I should think about saving for another set rims as well.

AD08 would be the better all year round tyre compared to the R888.SJ.

R888 is the closest tyre to a slick that is road legal. What is that going to be like in the wet or on a frosty morning ?????????

I would use the AD08r in summer (they don't make AD08 anymore) They are far superior to a run of the mill road tyre. Much stronger side walls and pretty good on track days, country blasts etc

I just run Toyo Proxes in the winter, but only because I have a couple of sets in the garage. Not because they are a good tyre necessarily

Thinking either AD08s or R888,
AD08 r compound that what simon- chevron motorsport recommend as track and all year tyre
R888 -you dont wanna slicks on winter, do You

I use AD08 in Summer and on track.
I use Goodyear Assym 2s in the winter, though they are really a summer tyre.
The next time around, I will probably go for some proper winter tyres on my second set of wheels, as the Assym 2s start to lose it a fair bit below temps of 5C. in my experience.

As above AD08 are great tyres,we are running them and we are love them, although in those low temperature they don't perform as they should, they love and need little bit heat.In wet conditions they're great in our case

R888 those are more track orientated tyres and I wouldn't use them as daily tyres, they perform nicely if outside is nice and warm(in coilder condition they will need to be in optimum temps and they wil perfrom nicely too),not too bad in wet, although you can't expect from them wet performance as on the Sessanta,F1 etc

R888 have worse tyre/thread wear as AD08

Have you considered Toyo R1R's?
I've been running these this year on my GC8 and really cant fault them, it will take a braver than me to make them break traction on the road.
Good in the wet too but they're definitely not winter tyres. The label recommends you don't expose them to -9 or summat like that.
