D2 Big Brake Kit - Bleed Nipple Leaking
Hello
I purchased a D2 big brake kit from Japspeed at the begining of the year, installed them and took the car to have the brakes checked over and re-bled at a local specialist.
The car is a work in progress so has only come out of the garage a few times since, but I have noticed that one of the nipples leaks. The brake fluid isn't coming out of the top of the nipple though like when it is loosened for bleeding, it is coming from the sides, where thread of the cappliper and nipple meet.
Without having the car on road much it's hard to test it properly but there is definitely liquid escaping and i'm pretty sure it shouldn't be!
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this or how to fix it?
I've removed and inspected the nipple as per Japspeed's recommendation but it made no difference.
Thanks
Lee

Is it fully tightened? Nothing Herculean as the nipple will snap, if it is then at a guess I would say the threads are buggered on either the nipple or more than likely the calliper, the nipple comes out freely I take it? And there is definitely no hairline fractures on it? As if its been over tightened in the past but not snapped then the nipple may be the culprit.
Other than that who ever previously done your bleeding may have cross threaded the nipple if it was totally removed, so may need to be re tapped and threaded.
Speak with Ian @ Godspeed they may have an idea as they specialises in brakes

It won't be the threads that cause it to leak , there is a chamfer at the bottom of the bleed nipple and when tightened it seals the hole in the caliper , if it has leaked a bit of fluid it could just be what was in the bleed nipple when it was tightened up , which can find its way up the threads , if the leak is constant and the fluid in the reservoir is dropping then the bleed nipple is not sealing the hole , and needs looking at.

Thanks for the response guys.
The nipple was already in the calliper from new and was bled when installed then again when the brakes were checked over so I don't see when it would have thread. I later removed and checked it, chouldn't see any signs of damage so reinstalled.
Since then the car hasnt moved so it's hard to tell if it's any better as the problem is worse when the car is used or brakes are warm, but there is still a ring of liquid has developed around the base of the nipple again which had been comletely dried.
I will call Japspeed again but last time they didn't have many ideas.
If I replace the nipple, will this eliminate the potential problem of it being the chamfer?
Thanks
